A push pin. It was odd when I felt around in my pocket and noticed it wasn't there. A familar little object that often recieves a little fiddling while warming my hands between flights. But today it was not there. Time and time again found my self subconsciencely searching and not finding the pokey little device.

Then it struck me. Why do I carry a push pin? Its to make minor blade tracking adjustments on the Xtreme turnbuckles on the King. I didn't think I adjusted the tracking all that much. But appearently enough that I regularly carry the tool to perform the job.

What stuck me next is that I now have over 20 flights on the Trex Pro and have not needed to make one single adjustment since setting the gain and rudder throws on flight #1.

I had 5 great flights on the Pro today and didn't have spend any time trimming or worrying about the machinery. Honestly, I think I'm finally progressing alot faster now that I'm able to concentrate on flying. The only concern I have is with aged 20c Zippy packs. I used them because I had them. But at close to 50 flights each, they aren't really cutting it with the Pro. Hovering and FF, is fine. But much past a minute into the flight and the collective gets pretty mushy.

I made the front page of the club newsletter and I did not have to get thrown out to do it this time

My student/buddie got the heli flight in before i could arrive.
I got the first plank flight in. I'm the guy in the Redskins (cough) jacket

Skii struts got all bent up from doing donuts at the end of the flight.

Flew today in the snow and halfway through the flight the snow got real heavy As you can guess I lost sight of it for a few seconds and that was enough so I just hit throttle hold and hoped for the best Luckily I got out if it with just a broken LG and a slightly tweeked mainshaft. The poor 450 was sticking in the snow like a lawndart and the canopy was filled with snow which without a doubt broke the fall I'm letting everything dry out and will tear it down tonight to do inspection/repairs.

i flew in the snow just before it got dark. i think at the next fly-in i will try to set up my gyro better. i cant get it to hold when i pump it. i am also going to get a new belit for it. Its going to be way to much fun replaceing that thing. Does anyone know if the belt for the trex 450 SA is a diffrent size from the other trex 450's?

The XL, SA, SE, SE v2 use the same belt

Spencer, your Rex was holding fine after we set it up during our last fly-in. Have you changed anything in the heli or radio?

We'll just start from scratch on setting up the tail/gyro. That way, all bases are covered.

I too had the same problem spencer the TREX stock motor and pinion is weak on the TREX mine bogged down with +/-11.5-12. I had the SEv1 and it to kicked out on full power climbouts. Relying on my gyro the GY240 to always bring it back Which it did.

I never went the extra mile to fix it it was fine for me cause it did come right back. And there are so many variables like I stated headspeed with stock motor and pinion maybe a little slow, Gyro servo combo.

At the end of the day the best equipment still dont make you fly better.

We had Spencer's Rex's tail holding solidly on full-power climouts last week with the GY401 gyro.
