Finally got a break in the weather and flew 10 packs through the HBK2. Lots of backwards stuff. Its coming along, but I'm still not quite there. Made some good progress today and it felt great.

It was raining today, but I flew anyway. 3 flights in light rain to keep the momentum with backward flight going.

I would have flown more, but found water under the kitchen sink this morning, from two sources. I got the new disposal installed this afternoon. The hot water dispenser is still under warranty, so I'll call about that tomorrow. For now its shut off with drip pan under it. I hate plumbing.

man I had an AWESOME night at the field.I was busy all day helping my brother-in-law with a project.so i got to the field about a half hour before dark.I had told myself I was going to try a traveling roll this weekend. But it was kind of breezy, and I wasn't feeling it.So I was just going to fly my normal stuff, keep working on the new manuvers I've been doing.

well after the second battery i was feeling great and flying nice so i said what the hell, and went for it.got going in a nice forward flight and gave right rudder, fed in negative as it was going over, watched it come around, fed back in positve, and back upright it came.YES

now it wasn't really pretty as it wasn't straight so it lost a ton of forward speed, but the heli was moving forward and it did a roll,so it qualifies as a traveling roll,I did about 3 or 4 more and they all turned out fine.man my adrenalin was pumping

finished out 1 more pack with some flips and inverted hover practice and called it a night

next up will be to get some video

Just got back from the field,
flew the Raptor again.

It is so awesome.

The wind was 20 mph gusting to 30,
it tossed my 450 all over the place,
but the Raptor hardly even noticed.

I wish I had video,
but I had to return the camera.

I got real brave this time,
did some figure eights,
and I let the model get quite a bit further away.

I even did some nose in.

I love this thing!

Update:
After bumping up the throttle curve,
and changing the timer to 7 minutes,
I am still only using a little over half of the total mah available in my packs.

It flew fine today,
even in the wind,
should I increase the throttle more?

Or should I just fly it longer?

Maybe a little of both?

Yeah,
Now I've been double bit though.

I got to fly the big bird and got a taste for how fun it was.

And

I got to see and smell nitro,
one of the guys at the field had his plane up for almost twenty minutes.

So I have been pricing nitro raptors.

Nitro does have a fun sweet smell to it. My LHS has a Pegasus with engine, servos, GY240 gyro - basically all it needs is a Rx and fuel... Dang it, dang it, dang it!

I've got my fingers crossed,
because there are three different battery technologies that are claiming to have a 10x increase in power over lipo.

Even if only one of them is half as good as they are saying,
then thats still a possibility of batteries that can keep up with nitro.

Oh and Tyran,

you are just trying to keep demand down!

I flew this morning after last week's horrendous crash. Almost right after takeoff, I noticed a small wag, then started piroetting hard - after I set it down, I found the rudder servo plug became disconnected fromt he gyro. After reconnecting and taking off again, I noticed one of the tailboom supports had come off. I had forgotten to tighten the screws after reassembly last night!
