Got the heli set up before going out,
put some touches on the warmer to make it a bit more comfortable

Went out to fly and crashed on my warm up battery.

I think the battery failed,
it was older and maybe slightly puffed (no lectures....I know...and now I really know...another lesson learned to take to the big bird)
I was coming around for a nice gentle circle and the heli just dropped

Oh well,
I had plenty of spares,
and she's back together,
only truly sad thing is my carbons finally bit the dust.

They have survived 3 other crashes.

On the positive note,
my first crash in well over a month

And I have been trying plenty of new stuff.

brought the TREX to work today thing flies like a school bus after spending so much time on the firefox. Those little boogers will turn you into a good pilot.

At least I hope so.

Tryan, maybe its time to re-visit the king of little boogers. No I'm not taking about the HBK2. Of course I'm referring to the Blade CP. I know, I know, lots of bad blood there. I have it to.

But with all this focus on cheap motor driven tail helis I do wonder if there is room to revist the old Blade. It is a little larger so maybe not quite the indoor heli. But parts are cheaper now when you use the Esky and cloned stuff. I still have my Blade, not currently airworthy. I haven't decided if I'm going to resurect it, stomp on it, or just send it to Doug.

But seriously, for those that have flown the Walkera, Firefox, etc, and the Blade CP, how do these indoor micros compare to the Blade. My Blade tended to wonder around quite a bit and seeing Yellow's video again yesterday made me think the Walkera has mananged a degree of stability that I never had with the Blade.

My blade cp (The heli was scratch built but eventually it sort of became a blade cp) was very stable, I replaced the dampers with bearings and ran plastic blades. But it just kept frying electronics and needs a tail esc at the moment. But I would have to rewind and remagnet the motors to get decent performance. I'll probably just sell it.

Flew 2 packs today. I put some flybar weights on and did some slow flying around for the first pack and then did the same thing inverted for the second pack

The esky gyro didn't seem too happy about the -14C weather though It seemed to have a mind of its own in a hover. I'm suprised it even worked at all though, and it wasn't so bad as long as I kept it in FF.

Made the mistake of putting my ball pliers in the same pocket as a lipo. When I took the lipo out it had a small puncture in the heat shrink and samll dents in 2 of the cells

I had an Axe CP. Similar,

The tail was everywhere!

My 13" EP100 flies WAY WAY WAY easier than my 22" POS AxeCP.

I've also enjoyed not CONSTANTLY replacing brushed motors.

Dan

Can't those catch fire if punctured?

George Castanza didn't wanna keep pens in his pocket because he didn't want to puncture his......sac.

Just imagine if that caught fire in your pocket.

Call me crazy but at -14C (7F) a fire in your pocket doesnt sound to bad? And if it fully punctures the battery your pants may be a little too tight.

Greggor
I cant do the bladeCP the flight characteristics are very similar to the firefox but the smaller size makes it appealing for indoor ff. And if you check the firefox parts or mini zoom on HD the parts are quite cheap. The 100 size CP fill a gap for those of us that dont like coaxials and spend more time hovering around in small places.

Oh and I never flown the BCPP other than stock to buy one and have to invest in a HH gyro and brushless setup, DD tail it wouldnt be worth it.

Flew the HBK2 and the T500 today. The last flight had snow flurries which were kind of fun and less trouble than I would have guessed.

Flew the King today after installing CNC flybar ball joint arms (they don't slip on the shaft like the plastics) and bright yellow canopy (first flight ever with a canopy!) No crash today...
