So I finally got the chance to head out and hover around my rebuilt Raptor 50. I dumbly didn't do my range check first, but during my hovers I noticed I definitely had a glitch going on and felt something was wrong. I landed, shut it off, and performed a range check. I couldn't remember exactly how to do it so I collapsed the antenna on my RD-8000 and took about 40 steps away from the helicopter. I walked back to the heli without the radio and boy was it going crazy! I thought maybe I was too far out so I brought the radio back in about 20 steps and returned to the heli. Nope, still going nuts. I grabbed the radio and walked back towards the helicopter until the glitching stopped..l. I was only about 5 steps away!! OH WOW...
So I get home bummed that I didn't get much flight time in, but relieved that nothing bad happened. I looked the heli over and noticed on my Deans one piece antenna that my dumb cats have been chewing on the end of the antenna.
So it looks like I need to resolder a new deans on and redo the range check. What else should I look for if the next step fails?
Remember when flying inverted that down is up and up is EXPENSIVE!
