Just reading a thread about spark arrestors in ESCs on another thread, and something clicked, which has been bothering me for a while.
What we really need, isn't spark arrestors in the ESCs. We need a new plug - something like a Dean's connector, but with 3 prongs rather than 2. 2 of the prongs should be long (+ve with a resistor and -ve), and one (+ve) should be shorter. When you plug it in, the current initially passes through a resistor in the long +ve connection, which limits the current and thereby any sparking. By the time the shorter +ve contact is connected, the ESC capacitors should be charged to a level where arcing will no longer damage the connector.
Does something like this exist already? I want one.
A bit like a kite, but 500 times more expensive
