Hi guys.
I am a little confused here and there are a lot of words flying around that I don't understand here as I am a newbie.

I have a HBK 2 RTF stock servos & stock 6ch Tx, I am trying to set-up the servos & swash plate being level. My question is when you do all these is throttle knob half way or all the way down?

Finless Bob's CCPM vid was with Futaba and the knob was in the middle.

read back a few pages in the forum, someone posted the setup of the stock Tx not too long ago, can't remember if it was a topic or someone giving the info under another topic, i'm sure you'll get your answer one way or the other, i'll go have a look, if i find it i'll give you a heads up

For leveling the swash, it doesn't matter where the throttle is. The swash should remain level all the way up and down the throttle range. The only thing that should cause it to lean is the right/cyclic stick.

But, you should center your servos to 90º first.

For the servos, you need to disconnect the motor, set both pitch knobs to 12:00/center, switch to idle up, and center the left/throttle stick. Make sure all your trims except throttle are centered. Unscrew and remove the servo arms and put the arms back on as close to 90º as you can get them. Leave the heli powered up while you do this so you don't inadvertently move the servo motors.

shizack why not the trim centered on the throttle?

Throttle trim on electric helis is archaic at best, more realistically vestigial. Electronic speed controllers are calibrated from 0 throttle to full throttle. Throttle trim is really for gas helis. It's designed to keep the engine running, but the blades stationary, at low throttle.

You can raise it if you want to, but you're only decreasing your overall throttle and pitch range.

So where should the throttle trim be if not centered? and why idle up?

yellowaircraft, in both idle up or normal mode is ok, as long as it centered because when you have with centered the blades should make a 0 degree

The throttle trim should be all the way down, but the stick itself is what needs to be centered. I always say to use idle up to set centers because not all Esky TX's are properly set to 0º at center stick in normal mode. I read 0º at low stick normal mode, but 0º at center stick idle up.

That's why I almost always fly in idle up. I want some negative pitch available if I get hung up in the wind.

Thanks shizack. Now I have to reset the servo arms. with all this info.... Well it's better than looking at my heli & waiting for the new motor to arrive.

OK one final question..

I am trying to set up the servo arms now. But they are not getting horizontal. They are either a little up or down. They just don't fit back in to the servo as horizontal. I tried to used the trims on the Tx but they don't help either..

Any suggestions?

Get them as close as possible. Computer transmitters have a feature called "subtrim" that gets the servos near-perfectly centered, but stock-style tx's like ours don't have this. Actually, not all computer tx's have it. The Futaba 6EX doesn't have subtrim. Leave the standard cyclic and rudder trims centered and go for "best case".

It's not absolutely critical that the arms are perfect. They'll be a few degrees off, but if the rest of the setup is good, the heli will fly fine (as soon as you can make it do so).

I just wanted to note that the set up for 90 deg arms and 0 deg pitch should be done at mid throttle in idle up 1. if you do the 90 deg arms are 0 throttle on normal mode then the arms won't have the same range of motion as they will be slightly upwards when at 0 deg on the blades.
