I have just installed a pair of MA tuff struts on my Sceadu and I figured out why manufacturer recommend a forward sweep installation.
I have seen many people installing their skids backwards for better balancing.
However, during landing, the force is exerted forward onto the helicopter from the ground. That is why skids are sweep forward to absord the force directly. Sweeping the skids backward can cause the landing gear to break easier during a hard landing.

Happy Flying!

Good answer......here is another......

For those sliding autorotations down the runway......gives the ground less to bite on in the front of CG.
