Today I was hovering my Raptor V1 and all of a sudden the tail rotor stopped and fortunatly I was able to set it down with out crashing On further inspection at home I found out that the bottom bearing that supports the starter shaft was really gritty feeling. Is it advisable just to replace it or try to oil it up. I only have 3 gallons of fuel through the Rv1 and feel that this should not be happening. Has any one had this problem before? Thanks for all replies.

If your tail rotor stopped, it's your pinion bearing that went bad. Your in luck because the pinion bearing is sold with the main shaft bearings so you can replace all 3. I know because that happened to me also!!

Spooky:

If the bearing that you are talking about is the one on top of the pinion, then that is the one.

That is it!! I believe it's $11.00 for all 3 bearings.

I jusy lost my pinion bearing and it was only a couple of months old. Grease new bearing before installing them. They will last much longer.
