I stuffed my bird last night with a brand spankin new OS50 sxh and WOW!Why didn't anyone tell me it was like that?I mean this muther has some power baby!My OS 46's have power with there modified ports and all but the 50 is just a beast with just a crank port match and polish.I me this thing reminds me of my OS61 sxh Wc.I was reaching under my bird to adjust the carb while on a runup stand and while I was getting a face full of slobbering rich @ss gas, I was smiling!I then released the bungi cords and placed her on the ground and slowly pushed the collective stick upwards, my heart raced as it shot straight into the sky, wow...I guess it will take me a bit before I get use to the 3/4 stick hover deal.Has anyone else had the same feelings with this engine?I used my Hatori 46 sized pipe.Is there more power where that came from if I use a muscle pipe? This is an XL-30/40 (once upon a time) and is quite heavy for it's size. How the heck do you guys with a sceadu's keep it in command? If it keeps going in this direction I guess I will never have a need for a Fury

The 50 rocks!! Im with you, cant see getting a 60 size when the parts for a 50 are cheap and performance is awesome. Burning a lot less fuel also.

Hmmmmm, I should keep my mouth shut....but..

If you remove the carburetor off your 50 and look, you will see that it is very restrictive.I matched the size of crank opening with the case opening.I used a course grinding stone to massage the passage to remove any rough spots and removed that pesky crank web.. .I know, but i couldn't help it to dig into a brand new engine. To top it off I polished the crank passage to smooth the airflow.I can see why there has been problems with the piston on this and the OS 70, the piston is like paper thin! What settings is everyone using, mixture wise?

don´t worry about posting that description safe, i was just curious and i have NO intention to go and hack the only engine i have....

but... i checked to see what you meant and i can see the difference in size between the crank hole and the case hole it´s about a 1/16th difference at the sides an front, does this make such a big difference in performance?

also, how do you go about polishing the crank?, i suppose it is from the rear and with some sort of buffing compound and a power tool.

could you elaborate?

thanks,

diego

Hmmmmmm.

Honestly I don't know about the power increase with this engine because I actually did not try it out before I did the mod.I do these as a standard "can't hurt" mod.My Os46's benefitted greatly from these plus others.I used a standard polishing roll (Dremel) with there brand of polishing compound. If you do a search on OS91 crank mod, that is what I did to the crank web and a bit of the pin support. The engine is real smooth on CP 15% and OS #8 plug with a Hatori 46 sized pipe.I can't wait to purchase an appropriate sized pipe for it.AGRAV8 you have your mind in the gutter!Oh by the way I attached the MA Flex shaft to a battery operated device, inserted, and let her rotate in just the right spot....
