Hi,

I just ran my new Webra 52 on the bench for the first time. One thing I noticed is the engine didn't have lots of compression as its older brother the 120, or even the OS 50 ... The compression in my webra 52 seems kind of weak. Is this normal ?

Even though I think my engine is lacking compression, I fired it up and it ran pretty well.

I am using PowerMaster 15% and an OS #8 glow-plug!

Does this combo have anything to do with it ?

Well, some people has run the Webra with 15% nitro without problems.
I'm using 5% nitro with enya#4 plug. My flying buddy comments that the engine roars with power.

I havent flown with my webra so I can't say I'm having problems with it ... Its just that it seems kind of wierd for it to have very little compression !

What is yours like ? ... is the compression weak or is it similar to the OS 50 ?

The carb seals tight . open the throttle and see how it feels then . I don't feel theres a better 50 class engine out there . no one can match its mileage.

I have 2 50 AAr's and they are an amazing piece of work. I am running 1 in a 50 scedu and 1 in a 50 voyager. I was running my voyager about half an hour ago and boy didnt it feel good. Loads of compression on both engines, plus mine are second hand but in next to brand new condition.

My new 52aar too strangely had 'weak' compression when new. After over 10 gallons on it. The compression's tight and has plenty of power and torque on 5% nitro! Can't figure out why...

I'd say don't worry about that. Focus on a good breakin routine and fly. Then you could take a look agian after a few gallons.

The ring will expand over time and seat properly thus giving you better compression. I just ran 4 tanks through mine on a bench tonight and while there was very little compression at first, now it is coming on.

I'm going to run about a gallon through it on the bence first before putting it in my heli.

The only thing I forgot to do was open it up and look inside for any stray metal parts. I usually do that. I will tomorrow before running it again

Jim!
