I have a 2 year old motherboard that has a 2x AGP video slot. I want a 64 MB card that will work with this motherboard. A Fry's Electronics seems like all are 4x. I currently have a Voodoo Banshee 16MB 2x but G2 will not run with it. If I find one that says GeForce 2 does that mean it is a 2x? I would like to upgrade my motherboard but I am currently using ISA modem and ISA sound card and looks like all the good motherboards don't have any ISA slots! I then would have to buy PCI sound card and modem! I REALLY didn't want to have to rebuild my computer to run G2. Any computer guru's out there that can help me find one that will work?
Thanks for any info!

well, you can usually find a mobo w/ at least
1 ISA slot if you want to reuse the sound card.

I'd think you could get a PCI modem card
for very very short $$$.

Hi Todd,

Most video cards rated 4x or even 8x will still support the 2x agp on older motherboards just fine. If you look at the mfgs. specs on the card your interested in, it will usually state that it will support 2x and 4x. I'm running a asus ti 4200 128meg 8x card and I know it will work just fine on a motherboard with a 2x agp slot.

Hope this helps....

Video Card

I talked to a friend of mine and he told me that most are backward compatable to 2x.
Now I need to just get out there and decide on which one to get and make sure it will support 2x.

Thanks for the help!

NO LUCK!!!!!!!!

I went and bought a ATI Radeon 7500 and it did not work. It installed OK but when it went to restart my computer after installation was complete the monitor would not come on (the green light on monitor changed to amber and started flashing). I would work in safe mode only! If I increased the color or resolution at all it would not come on again.
Returned it and bought a MSI MX440 GeFORCE4 and after installing the software it would only come on in safe mode only!!!!
Restarting computer with it installed locked the computer up at the Windows 98 splash screen everytime!!! I guess I will return it Monday.
My G2 will have to just in the box for a while
