THIS ENGINE WAS NEW. RAN A HALF TANK THROUGH IT 15% COOL FUEL. THREE TURNS OUT ON NEEDLE. GOOD SMOKE, YES. BROKE CONNECTING ROD AT BOTTOM OF CRANK. SENT IN TO ACE. THEY REPAIRED IT AND RETURNED IT TO ME. PUT IT BACK IN THE HELICOPTER; RAN IT AGAIN, THREE TURNS OUT ON NEEDLE, GOOD SMOKE - YES, AND RAN GOOD. AND THEN CONNECTING ROD BROKE AGAIN, UP BY THE PISTON SIDE THIS TIME. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THIS ENGINE IS OVERHEATING BECAUSE OF THE COOLING FAN NOT COOLING THE ENGINE. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ONE ENGINE. OR COULD THIS BE SOMETHING ELSE IN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE CONNECTING ROD TO BREAK? I DOUBT THAT 3 TURNS OUT WOULD CAUSE A HYDRAULIC AFFECT IN THE ENGINE. I ASKED ACE THIS QUESTION AND HE SAID "NO". GOING TO ASK ACE TO JUST GIVE ME A DIFFERENT ENGINE. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW ON THE SAME ENGINE. ANY REPLY WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED. PAUL

Just lost a lower end of the rod today...I'm finished with TT39's probably even all TT engines. The one prev to this blew the bottom end bearing. What's the point there are better engines out there why waste valuable flying time with junk, (let alone an expensive heli...) just my thoughts.

GUESS THE OS 32 IS KING FOR RAPTOR V2 30 ? SEEMS LIKE THE TT39 HAS PROBLEMS. LOOKING AT RUN RIDER FORMS YOU SEE A LOT OF THINGS HAPPENING TO 39 NOT SO MUCH WITH 32. PAUL

Unfortunately you don't have much choice. OS32+15% fuel can not give you the power for 3D. OS50 eats too much fuel. a .39 size engine seems to be a balance between 32 and 50 but OS just does not have this option.

My TT50 Pro has been running very well and I haven't heard bad thing about TT39. You probably is the very unluky one.

TT Engines

My TT39 and TT50 work just fine with a lot of power even when run rich. I even had good luck with the old TT36.

My TT50 trashed the rod cos the crank back plate wasnt tightened...

If it broke when the heli was spooling down, that sounds like the auto clutch is dragging and putting excessive strain on the engine...

I could be wrong and often am..

Alternative engines to consider are the Irvine 36H ring or 39H ABC or the Webra 35 Competition

Paul-Hillman,

Just an FYI... the generally accepted rule regarding using all caps in an e-mail or forum is to do so only to express shouting. It's also pretty hard to read your posts because of the all caps format. Unless you're shouting, please consider using lower case text.

Sorry to hear about your TT39 problems.

TT39

I also have a nice running TT39.
Mine has a very touchy high speed needle valve.
1/8 turn is all it takes for a good runing engine to
running too lean. Mine likes 3 3/4 turns out.
I have read about sensitive need valve settings on
on a TT39 on several posts

I'm in agreement with 440GTX, as in the high needle needs VERY small adjustments. Personally I can't fault my tt39, seemed a little tight at first but now after 2 gallons its running great.
(probably put the kiss of death on it now )

I would tend to say more of a mass produced engine. Sometimes in a mass production environment, bad products get out. I have had a bad OS before. It to shelled the con rod. OS replaced it without any questions. Not a fix, but completely replaced the engine. I to would lean towards ACE replaceing the entire engine. Better luck with the next one.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.
