Hi,
I have a webra 52 and she is flying good up to about 60% throttle.
The engine will bog down if I put in more throttle.
The webra is still putting out lots of smoke at idle. There is also smoke during hovering at 50%.
I can touch the crankcase for a second before the heat starts to hurt.
How can I tell if the engine is overheating?
I don't want to lean in too much until I spoilt the engine.

you can tell if it is to lean my low or no smoke, rpm tends to stay up when the throttle is reduced and a dry and crisp sound.

there are to many variables to answer that question form my position but do you still have good smoke at 60% or when it starts to sag or does it go away then. if it is still smoking good then just lean it out a couple of clicks at a time until it gets better . if the smoke is notthere then you are to lean. if you start leaning it out and cant get it with out it geting to lean then you need to work on your setup more. i hope this helps Tom

Set the main needle first

Fly around and when overhead, hit hold. If the engine drops to a idle INSTANTLY you are ok, any hanging up and you are LEAN!!! If you are not comfortable with autos, have someone else do this for you. It is the most reliable way of checking the top end I know. For the bottom, run it slightly rich- listen for a good smooth hover. If both needles are out you will never get to the sweet spot- go to factory settings and go from there (here the bottom must be set after the top is backed off- then set the top close).

Enjoy!
