Getting some confusing feedback. I don't have the manual for this transmitter.

What PCM receiver works for this transmitter with module NET/J72P? My buddy bought this transmitter used, and is being told that it is recommended NOT to use a PCM receiver, rather to use an FM receiver. This does not compute, and we're questioning this advice.

Which receiver should he get so he can use PCM? Is it SPCM, PCM, or ZPCM? I'm not hip to the JR differences in receivers.

Thanks,

Stet

I must admit - I have never heard of not using PCM with a JR module before.......

Although not using the NET-J72P module (I had the 53meg module), I used PCM with both my 388 and 3810.

The Rx to use is the NER-649S (PCM S) or the NER-549 (FM).

I was once told the 388s was spcm. The one that I had definitley was. It came with a 649 Rx.

If it's the original 388 you might be screwed...call Horizon.

PS..OOPS..just saw you said 388s..ya..any JR pcm will work.

it is my recollection that i have used z-pcm with the 388. i can't remember whether i tried the s-pcm with it. however, others have said it will work.

i believe you can use the s-pcm but it will only give 512 resolution, not 1024. does this make sense?

hope this has been helpful.

nels

just do it!

Imback..you have your Rx modulations mixed up.

z-pcm came out first. It's 512 resolution.

s-pcm came out last. It's 1024 resolution.

Any radio that is about 10 years old or newer designated "S"
(10s, 10sx, 10sxII, 388s, plus the newer 8103 and 10x) is capable of the finer resolution.

To run a z-pcm (512) receiver on a newer radio you must
switch the radio modulation over from the menu in the transmitter.

I believe the 10sxII was the last JR radio to modulate in both z and s -pcm.

I don't think the 10x does and seem to remember a bit of a stink over that when it came out.
