Weather nice - overcast is the afternoon with just enough wind
(supposed to rain tomorrow though).
Field nice as well (enough shade, no dust).
Just two tipover blade strikes while I was there.

Although I'm a newbie, I gotta say....
the level of flying was uniformly excellent and most impressive!

Some crashes...other than that a whole lot of fun as usual.

My first fun fly and I had a blast, Was fortunate enough to hang out with a few of the big guns after hours and gain as much info as possible. dinner was great. I thank all of them for their hospitality. If anyone is in the area in the future I will definately open my home to them. I may be relativley new to helis but I have been surrounded with the right people and plan to be in the hobby for many years to come.

Thanks to all for an awesome time.

Note.

Note to self:

Never try to fly your Raptor 60 with your Freya 91 program.

Phoenix

To all that didn't show up you missed a great weekend. The weather was great Fri and Sat. Sunday as mentioned was a little wet, but oh well. There was plenty of flight stations, no waiting. Make sure you make it next year.

Yup

Funny thing, this was the first fun fly I actually decided to fly in and worse, I decided to make a mistake on my first fllight of the day, right smack in the middle of the whole field in front fo every body.

Another mental note: "Don't fly immediately after a 6 hour drive."

Luckily, only trashed the blades and no-one got hurt. At least I had a ball with my Freya.

Fun get together afterwards. Glen knows how to throw a good one. Good beer great food, great people. Even though Alan kicked my butt on playstation...maybe I can use the beer as an excuse

robdoyle, I agree Glen and his family are great. It was fun Flying the Jason Scholts Hornet like helis in the house. There was a lot of fun there with Jason Krause, Alan Szabo, and Jeff flying the little helis around.

Fun...

It was great to see everyone again, and despite all the crashing I had a blast. The "Cricket Extreme" has available spares and will be back in the air shortly.

The Cricket

Steve,

I was meaning to ask you at the time and got distracted....do you have a modern gyro in that cricket? It did fly amazingly well, very solid and the tail was very steady, well, until that little problem.

Richard.

Hehe

Crickets are weird but cool. My buddy Steve rebuilt his real cherry a few months ago just to show off to us newbies in the hobby.

Just for Gits & Shiggles he threw a TT36 engine in there, but was too powerful and could not get it to loop and roll (HOLY CRAP, fixed pitch!).

He proceeded to replace the engine with an ENYA 30 something size motor and boy that thing came alive. Funny how a smaller engine made it fly better. I never thought it could be done. Big elliptical loops and goofy looking barrel rolls.

I put some pictures up on my website that I took when he had the TT36 motor in there.

Gyro...

Yeah, there is a CSM 360 gyro in there. Not exactly modern, but it helps. The Cricket is a gem but challenging due to the throttle delay. The cyclic and tail are quick.

I see Kaos is happy that I am now a member of his exclusive club of people that crash more than once a day or.. umm.. let's see.. was it 7 for you last month?
