I have been fighting a weird Radio prob with my Q15.
I hovered two tanks and then I noticed the prob.
The servos would hesitate before moving.
I switched batteries checked wires and every thing else.
Finally I changed receivers and no more problems.
I am thinking my brand new PCM JR receiver is junk.
That’s when I noticed that it clearly says Dual conversion on the front of the receiver. I had the normal Grey crystal in it and it takes the red dual conversion crystal.
I didn’t notice and my LHS didn’t notice when I bought it !

I'm surprised it worked at all!

LOL

I was wondering about that!I switched from a 649 to a Pcm10 and it would not work with the grey channel 40 crystal..

Red Crystal

Dual Conversion rcvr's are a lot better then the standard rcvr because there is more circuitry it is more expensive and a lot less vulnerable to unwanted signals. We share our frequency with pagers which work in between our frequencies and if you are close to a repeater, or the repeater is not tuned properly, the signal could bleed into our frequency which I witnessed on Jason Krause frequency at the Las Vegas funfly in January. A Dual conversion rcvr would have faired a lot better in that circumstance. Jason was aware of the interference and changed his frequency, and I could hear the pages on the scanner.

I have one dual conversion rcvr which I am saving to put in my Airwolf if I ever get it completed or even if I ever get it started.

That could be why Jasopn's heli survived the interference.

Not being a Futabe rcvr fan, obviously I don't know what technology Futaba uses. But dual conversion no matter who makes it is always better then single conversion.

For JR, dual conversion is available only in thier most expensive rcvr. JR uses a ABC & W technology that gives them an edge on thier single conversion rcvr over other single conversion rcvrs, but still not as good as the dual conversion.
