talking about skyline... did you know that part which always breaks on the tail, the tail pitch fork for a raptor sells for $1 in the states but skyline want £5 stg. bit of a differance wouldnt you say? also getting a response to an email for a low dollar item is like waiting for the big bang to come again. i sent an email to the shop, got no reply and then i sent a copy to bob j's email on his personal site 3 months ago and didnt get a reply.

i think the problem in the uk is there are not enough customers, ie people less well off, poor weather, and people not having the same consumerism as the states where they WILL pay $200 for a sh*** canopy for an xcell. no one will pay the same £200 here in theyre rigt mind except who Mr wilshere can brainwash. not many......

Well, I have ordered items both large(ish) and small from Bob at Skyline and have always been impressed with the speed of their service. One thing that makes them especially good for me is that they are very reasonable on postage charges, usually the amount charged is just the value of the stamps, not some extortionate amount for 'packing'.

I e-mailed Bob Johnston a while back about the issue of MA pricing, particularly the Fury Extreme, in the UK. I'm looking to get one of these puppies in the near future, but the standard price over here is £999.99 inc. VAT, whereas from Ricks R/C (http://www.ronlund.com) it's only $869.85. Neglecting the tax and duty issue that's a difference of £450! Bob agreed that MA is very expensive over here, saying:
"Your not mistaken at all, there really is a big difference in the US to UK
price on Xcell stuff, this is not because anyone is being greedy but simply as MA (Xcell) started out making heli's for the US market they did not build a distributor margin into their costings, the US like the UK is a expensive place to manufacture in. So they don't have any spare margin to give oversea's distributors a extra discount with the result that the distributors pay the same price as a US shop, in the US they don't have VAT but by the time the kits get to the UK, there is shipping to pay, import duty, VAT, a margin for the distributor and a margin for the shop."
I realise that there is not much the stores in the UK can do, however it is a shame the pricing difference is forcing people (me) to buy from the US since I would much rather buy from a place such as Skyline which offers much in the way of support and advice.

I don't doubt anything you've said there, but my experience so far of buying MA spares in the UK has not been good.

Example:

I had a little 'problem' on me X-Cell 60 Pro and burnt out the clutch. The cost of the replacement shoes and starter shaft at about £30 I felt was reasonable, having been used to buying spares for me Nexus! But then came the clutch liner

Now I had replaced a liner on the Nexus and cos the shop didn't have one I had to buy one off a 60 size machine (I forget exactly which one), but it was only £4. Now I come to buy an MA one, to all intents and purposes the same size, thickness etc that I had brought before, except one little detail, it cost an amazing, ripoff, £18!!!!

That is the first and last time I make that particular mistake
