Some people in this country have gone insane it seems with all this terrorism scare. Today at lunch, Lift and I went outside and across the street from one of our lowrise buildings on this big campus where we work. The field we are in is easily about 5 acres. We are out 100 yds or so in the field tuning up my motor, climbing out, setting it down, and retuning. About 20-30 minutes into our testing/tuning, this security guard comes out into the field and tells us there has been some concern raised that we are terrorist out here with a UAV with C4 strapped to it and we are going to crash it inot the building and blow the company up. I just laughed and started packing up. What has this country come to? You cant do anything withing 5 miles of a building now because you may blow it up, you cant fly model rockets cause thier engines are explosives, and the other crap. Whats next? This sucks!

Some people really need to learn to think for themselves instead of just blindly believing everything they see on TV.

The way I see it is the towel heads come to this country to get away from war and killing and terroisim over there in the middle east then they alow it to happen here .. Worse yet ,we allow them here to commit that kind of terrioism and get away with it ..The towelheads have said that we are infidels and should be killed in the name of Allah, but we let them keep right on doing it because we might offend them .People are scared to go outside because of the towel heads bombing the trade centers .. Then our media goes on telling them where to hurt us the most and how to do it ,how much it would take and where the wind blows to help them kill us .. Still we americans sit around and whine that we cant do anything about it ... BULL SH-T!!! Its time to tell the towel heads our government the crybabies and the media that we are not the cowards and infidels that the middle east think we are..We have to get back to normal in this country and the first person that tries terrriost activity should be lined up against the wall and shot ..I dont care who it is .. Americans are americans and its time we show everyone who really rules this world .. We cannot skick our heads in the sand in this country and think that thet wont do that again and worse next time .. On the other hand we cant sit in our houses and cry and be afraid of our neighbors either .. If we dont pull our heads out ,we will lose everything .. WAR MUST BE MET WITH WAR !!

This makes me laugh...

Here is the UK we have lived with terrorism for years, a lot of it funded by "other countries who call themselves allies"

Funny isnt it tho, when it comes a bit closer to the land of the free and the home of the brave, everyone seems to get just a little paranoid about the smallest things...

I am sure its not the american people, but more the proliferation of the media and the importance of the "scoop"

The journalist/expert that came up with the R/C model bomb delivery must be really proud of himself....

Umm....crash1953

Perhaps 'towelheads' is not the best term to be throwing around Crash1953...nobody needs to hear that sort of racial slur on a friendly hobby board like this...

Please keep your racism to yourself.

Cheers!

Crash1953, I fully agree with Laserbeak. You rule the world, like hell. I am Canadian and proud of it. We don't have all the fancy military hardware that you fellows have ect. But then again we are only 37,000,000 give or a take a few (about the same as the population of the Greater NY city area.) I fully support the U.S. in its endeavors against the terrorist organizations that would attempt to disrupt our way of life because of their warped sense of what they percieve others should think or behave or pray who they should pray too, ect.,ect.

I lost my infamous tag line.

This might seem funny, but the FBI and homeland security agents just told a hobby shop in a small town in Alabama, that he couldn't sell any airplanes, heli's or any fuel above 20% Nitro. Of course this pretty much closed the guy down! Has anyone heard anything like this elsewhere?
Sounds pretty serious!!!!!!!!!

If you ever wondered why you guys are so popular in some circles.....

And the ones who use racial slurs are reminders of how ugly the human race can be, no matter where they are from.

<<..Clanton story...>>

What bull****. There are more holes in that story than homey's explanation of why he has that change box on his back seat.

I would go into government disinformation, but I don't feel like defending accusations of being a conspiracy theorist by a short-sighted ostrich or two.

Mongo, God alone can save us from bureaucrats. Air-head citizens without a clue just make matters worse. We are slowly but surely developing into a nation of cringing idiots. Yet another reason why I'll be retiring far away from any large population center. The level of abject stupidity is directly proportional to the level of urbanization...

ATF targeting rocket hobbyists for background checks

LANCE WEST reports
Updated: March 13, 2003 11:51 AM

OKLAHOMA CITY - With America on alert, Oklahoma hobby stores are now under the government microscope. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is about to launch new provisions restricting access to model rocket fuel.

Hobbyists who buy the fuel will undergo stringent background checks.
Since 9-11, government agencies have been facing all types of threats. That now includes some model rockets.

Building and launching model rockets is a favorite hobby of Tony Parker.

"I'm 48 and I've been doing it since I was 13. So I've been doing it for a while," he said.

Unlike fireworks, model rockets are legal.

But some fear new federal provisions could ground this popular past time.

Anyone buying model rocket fuel, called APCP -- Ammonium Perchlorate Composite Propellant -- will soon be subjected to federal background checks and fingerprinting.

The ATF wants to keep potentially dangerous explosives out of terrorists' hands.

"Anything over 62.5 grams would be considered an explosive, not a propellant," one AFT agent said.

Government officials insist the most common model-rocket motors will not be affected by the guidelines.

"This mainly falls into the guys who build the bigger rockets, 4 to 6 feet. They provide a tremendous amount of lift," the agent said.

And while some rocketeers believe the restrictions threaten their hobby, parker takes a more patriotic position.

"I can understand they're nervous when you have something that can get up there close to an airplane or looks like a sidewinder missile," Parker said.

The Homeland Security Act guidelines are scheduled to go into effect in late May. Some rocketeers, however, are suing the federal government in hopes of changing the fuel classification from an explosive to a propellant.

There will also be new restrictions on how explosive material can be shipped.

They got my fingerprints on my concelled gun permit. Terrorist can use anything, this doesn't bother me if I have to sign up for hobby supplies.
