Hi,

I have some bits left over in my newly built R50V2 kit. They are some small peices of metal shaped like an E and they are supposed to go over the servos to hold them down tighter and stop any blade fluttering. They included the same peice of metal to screw the collective servo down in the Hirobo Sceadu.

So the question is...should I go back and put them on the servos or leav them as they are. I will be doing pretty hard 3D with the R50.....just wondering if fitting these things on the servos will make any noticeable difference as there is no mention of fitting them in the manual.

Cheers, Will.

I am facing that same decision right now. Here are my thoughts. Both cyclic servos are loaded along their length, so the servo screws won't take much load. The collective servo is loaded sideways, so I am going to use the plates with just that one servo. With my R60, I didn't like how much bite the self-tappers had while using the servo plates. So, I used SHCSs and Nyloc nuts when I used the plates. Therefore, I will use SHCSs on my R50 collective with support plates. JMO, you're probably fine with or without the plates.

Plates

The plates distribute any strain and vibrations on the servo. It is a good idea to use them.
