If you're a Futaba man, I like the 9204. It's a good, solid servo with 0.19 sec/60 degrees and torque of 131.9 oz.-in. @4.8v. I use it for collective and 9252 digitals for the cyclic in my Freya.

servos

thanks. I am a fan of futaba and i have been doing some research. I think i did decide to go with the 9204's. I need it for an JR ergo 60. That should have plenty of torque.

Thanks for your imput

Stay clear of Hitec 945/965mg and Hitec digitals.

Also to be considered is the new 9350 digital. All reviews read so far have be excellent, with specific reference ot the use of this servo in a collective application. The search engine will find the thread for you. Just a bit more money than a 9204/9206.

If you like the JR flavor servo's, the long running 4131 is hard to beat.

Al, I'm curious, what's the word on these Hi Tec digis, then? I had three of them but sold them to a fixed winger who needed them more than I did...

FinnDave,
I concur with Al on the Hitec digitals. They are junk for Heli use. I had four and I had problems with them immediately. Here's what I have exerienced first hand:
1) They are audibley noisy as hell - it's just an annoyance, not a big deal.
2) They are electrically noisy as hell - This is a big deal...I replaced some Futaba non-digitals with them, and immediately I had all kinds of interference problems. I then replaced the Hitecs with Futaba digitals using same cable routing, location, etc, and the problems disappeared.

Here's what I have heard:
1) I've heard of them "re-programming" themselves in flight. Resetting throw limits, etc. That may have been corrected, and may only affect people who use the programming features, I don't know, but I've heard this from a couple of people on RR.
2) They're metal gear servos that wear out VERY quickly. Even faster than they "should". I didn't keep mine long enough to find out how quickly they wear.

Strike that. 9206 is the newest version of the 9204.

Funny, Futaba doesn't list it as the 9204 replacement. I wonder why? Same specs.

Darren the 9204 is actually a metal gear servo, so is the 9206. I use the 9204 on collective, and it is an excellent servo. Daz...
