I have a millennium Mk11 with a os 70 engine.

I have the following problems:

Once I start the engine the clutch seams to dragg/catch a bit to soon, as result i have to hold the head very tight .
I have checked clutch alignment,engine alignment,replaced clutch.

Any ideas guys

Thanks

clutch drag

Raf

I have a mkII with a webra 91 and the 90 clutch in mine is at times a nightmare for dragging. You can try removing some of the liner with some sand paper and that will help (it did on the 91). It has improved with time so maybe yours will bed in.

Are u using the 90 clutch or standard 60 size. Try the sand paper trick first.

I also found that it only dragged in certain places as well as the assembly rotates.

Cheers

Clutch draggin'

I also had this happen with my M2. The problem is that your clutch bell is not perfectly aligned to the clutch/fan hub assembly. Try this- slide toothpicks between the clutch bell edge and the fan when installing the motor. If you get the flat, tapered type you can get even spacing between the two parts. Install as normal and you should be very close to being aligned. This prevents the bell from tilting with respect to the motor when the pinion bearing block is adjusted and everything is tightened down. Of course, remove the toothpicks before running

Is that not the Robbe upgrade 'auto assistance' slipper clutch?

Could've done with one of those a while ago....

As well as special care on engine alignment you also need to always dial gauge the fan hub plus the bearing guide/start adaptor holder(top hat alloy piece). If you don't do this you'll never be able to line the engine up properly so the clutch doesn't drag when the engine is started ,if it happens to have runout more than say 4 thou. With a close fitting (newish) liner it doesn't take much runout to cause a problem,it's also worth the time, even if you have to assemble the stackup several times to get it spot on,less than 1 thou if possible. It also helps
to minimise any fuel foaming and overall vibration levels linked to engine rpm and get the longest life time out of the clutch.

Raf,

My clutch only drags when it snaps

So far on my third with the webra 91 - after maybe 2 - 3 (US) gallons of CP 15. waiting to hear from Robbe UK. These were the black 90 versions. The silver 90 version in the Nova has never had a problem, other than starting to rattle on the holder which was easily cured (new holder)

I've got a spare Milli clutch bell if you want to try it this weekend, been used, so it may have more clearance. Let me know.

I like the tooth pick idea, but getting them out has got to be a nightmare??
