Hey Jimmy - Thanks for your input! If anyone else would like to contribute, please feel free - it's great to see other projects!

I just ordered a Hawk Sport, and it should arrive in a few more days.

What engine are you using, Jimmy?

little bird cont

okay okay, here is some more pics of the work that has been accomplished this far, btw congrats with your new arrival eric,

weber 35 powerplant, heard its got more zoom than os

does this guy look a little impatient

that damm starter shaft

plenty of room

this is the angle of the tail boom if you dont make room for the starter shaft

grind baby grind

trim the top of the bulkhead to make room for the collective

hightened security

hey buddy this is a restricted area

the bear necessities of the hawk

rather flimsy gear, will have to run a wire thru the skids and epoxy in place, then brace the struts

all that has got to go

got to go i say, remove all the inside plastic that joins the two halfs together

well thats it for now, should i continue to post the progress? is anyone reading this?

Yeah, Jimmy, I'm reading it. But when I clic on the photos to make them bigger so I can see details, the pics are out of focus.. Dont mean to gripe but if the details cant be seen then it doesnt help. Am in the process of thinking how to tackle this project and everyones help is appreciated. Havent ordered the Hawk kit yet, wanted to make sure that was the one to use. Right now I think the boom halves will need to be glued together after the webbing is removed. Then I think the boom will need to be fused to the fuselage to make it one piece. I will probably glue the fuse halves together as well. Then some type of fastening system will have to be built to connect the front half of the fuse to the back half.......Just some thoughts for now........Dave

crown v, ill try to redo the pics

well the fuse will be supported by the hawk mech, there are still some screws that will be left in place, on the bottom an possibly two on top( depends on how much more fitting i need to do), the taile boom looks like it will be epoxied to the fuse and to each other, the front canopy will be connected by the bulk head see the pic where part of it was trimed out. there are four screws that will be able to unscrew to have access to the front section. this is just what i am looking at so far i may have to make changes as i go. will try to re post new pics before i progress. showing more detail,

Keep it comming..........

I received my littlebird in the mail yesterday and it is awsome. I can't wait to grind on it. If the Hawk CCPM kit is used, would it shorten the front servo tray enough to keep the tray from going into the cabin area?
Also have you thought about the 46/50 conversion kit since the heli body is so heavy?

yep thought about that

the only proble with the 50 size conversion is if you use the extended tail boom. as it sits the tail boom is about 3in longer than the little bird tail boom. so i didnt want a really long looking boom. tried to keep the same dimensions as possible. maybe if you just stick a bigger motor with out the longer boom might do the trick.

hello wasp

i have some carbon 550's i think im going to give a try, the thing to remember is this is an increase in wt with the plastic fuse, so im thinking im going to have to have more lift, this is information that i have gathered: the fact that the increase wt will mean higher pitch angle to hover and climb. so the reason i did not go with the os (even though i love that motor) is because the potential to bog out the motor putting such a load. this is my first run with the webra so i guess ill see if weber is everything all the loyalist claim it to be. what do you think?

Yes the Shuttle has a belt driven tail, similar to the Raptor 30/50. The Shuttle will be lighter than the Raptor. I don't know if it is lighter than a Nexus.

Also, I have received my Hawk sport kit that I'm using for this project, and am about halfway through assembling it. Pictures will be posted here soon!

I think so. It's hard for me to be sure, as I just sold my last Shuttle and no longer have one to test fit. I have read about other's using the Shuttle with this fuse. Click here.

use semi-sym blades

This would help with lift at a given pitch setting, and reduce the load on the motor. I doubt any inverted moves are in store for the guys doing one of these up........just a thought. James
