Your set-up has a lot to do with how the real deal flys. Have someone experienced with helis, hover and trim your helicopter. Get rid of the negative pitch. Are you using training gear? Then, when it's your turn to try it, don't raise it more that six inches off the ground, at first.

How exactly did you have the boom strikes? Are you landing hard? If so I would change the -2º to 0º. Or are you landing tail low?

CAB,

+2 or 0 should do it. You just don't want the blades to suck down.

Also, make sure your throttle is at idle for full low stick.

try 0,5,9 these were given to me buy a freind when I was learning and helped me greatly as with a negative it will drop quicker when the throttle is dropped and a "0" will not fall so fast as I too had an experiance or 2 with the boom strike monster! .
I also set my throttle to 0,45,55,65,100 which I also found very good for my 30 size trainer by helping me keep it smooth around hover.
But alas I know what works for me may not work for you but you sound just where I was and in a short time on these settings am now quite confident.
Also make sure the blades are reasonably tight in the grips as this will contribute towards the strikes more than you think (not cranked right up) but to where you can hold the helli on its side and they dont want to fall togeather.dont give up just yet it will happen

good luck

If you are total beginner, try this. All tail in. Dial in some expo on the stick.
Burn a tank or two at 4 inches off the ground. Keep it in a 5 foot square.
Burn a tank or two at 4-5 inches and move it to the right out of the box, back to box, to the left, back, etc.
Then try the 8 inch hover for a tank or so,
inch up to 12 - 14 inches or so. Some where you will be above ground effect.--The cushion you are learning on ( the air the blades are pushing into the ground)
After leaving ground effect the bird will feel different.
Waist high hover and then eye level hover. It gets easier. Take the traning gear off and it again it feels like a different bird. Which is easier to fly etc.
gud luck

Cab It is all in the set-up. Also do not get intemadated or have to much of a adrenaline rush. I have been flying for two weeks. Haven't crashed yet but I know I will soon but Already changed set-up to 3D & doing loops on my 6th flight on my Raptor 50. So don't be scared of the bird & concentrate. It will all come together & you will find out that it is just like the sim but easier. Well thats how it happened for me anyway.

Good luck keep tring.

CAB, the 0º will cushion the blow. And Mykool, good point, I forgot about. DO tighten the blades!
