Is there a site which gives info on safe operating temps of engines esp. OS engines.

I had damage due to heat seizure !!!

Touch Test

The above temp should be read at the rear of the head .

For a simpler way, you should always be able to put your finger on the backplate for a few seconds (straight after stopping the blades on landing) without any real pain being felt (If your finger sizzles it's too hot !!!) . Using this method I've never 'Toasted' a motor. Remember most carbs have 2 needles, use them both so that the low end and upper both have enough fuel.

Ditto that

I plan on continuing to do the touch method that Welsh Rap describes in conjunction with my new venom temp monitor...I think that after awhile I will find and document what MY motor likes to run at and then be able to keep an eye on the temp to keep it in line....the temps that people post are a nice guide line...but depending on the method they used to get that temp. and where on the engine....It could lead you astray.
