I am building a Century Airwolf, currently working to complete the fuse.

I am wondering wheather I should install the guns and pods or not?

Is it worth the trouble? I know that they would be easy to break off in transport etc...

ideas/comments?

Thanks,
Dean

I didn't..........

but I will on my next one.....hoping it will be a Vario Turbine Airwolf.....and that demands nothing is left off. Mine looks good without it.......although I did install Vario retracts in it. James

James I assume those are dummy (not really that fires) rockets in the Turbine Airwolf.

No'Maam......

Those will be custom weapons of choice.......for the SERIOUS heli pilot tired of having nitro buggies bouncing off his ankles whilst flying his turbine.....

They will be removable for public events, ect.....and a spare belly gun set will be easily installed.

I'm leaning toward .22 rat shot for fodder........less recoil stress on the heli when weapon is deployed. FWIW, the modified .410's will work: recoil will be adverse with them that far below the centerline of the heli. **** WAS ON when I tested them on standard xcell mechanics......darn near made it stand on its' nose......

You should'a see that milk jug......it didn't approve of it AT ALL !

I'm STILL laughing now.......and there is ONE guy with a plank that always buzzes us while we are flying.........might have to strafe the runway next time he lands........

It really does flip the heli.......didn't realize how much till tested. James

James.
A word of caution though.. I really hate to see your turbine get blowned to bits. There are propane and kerosene on board .. watch out for those vapors.. can be bad combination with live ammo system..

groundeffect.. here is one video of airwolf flying.. i believe it's century airwolf..

Turbine Pods and boom.. not sure whose version this one.. interesting to watch..

I had an airwolf 30 with guns, and they broke sooooo easily I cut them back off and glued the gunpod onto the wing and said the heck with it. The guns on my 30 ship were resin like.. kinda like Epoxy without any fiberglass, so they were very fragile. Just food for tought

Nevermind about shooting the dog.. you couldn't even have a chance of even fire any ammo, before you blowing own heli up..

understandable Dave.. If you read my first post on this thread you'll understand the message i am trying to convey. I hate to see him lost a heli unnecessarily. He probably going to cry "Mommy!". hehe.. j/k

Heres how it works.....

Just so you DON'T underestimate.....the vario rocket pod operates from a blank cartridge used for starter pistols.......this in turn ignites the fuse for "whistlers" or whatever you want. Burning propelllent below and outside the fuselage is not a concern......if the vapors are not gonna catch on the raw turbine exhaust......it is not going to be a problem with the belly guns.....

I have a background making custom hunting rifles........this will not be a problem to adapt.........conditional firing sequence......gear up, lights on, ect......

This is something to be sorted out AFTER I get the mechanics and the fuselage.......but it will be.

James.. I wish you all the best.. and have fun with your turbine. just a little caution note that's all. not questioning about your integrity in building custom rifles dont get it the wrong way..

much appreciated.......

I know you do. FWIW, the system will operate just the same with 22 cal blanks as well......probably go live once or twice to demonstrate capability.......

Still wriggling around trying to find a way to score that turbine.......but I am OH, so CLOSE !..............

Why not make it modular? Plug in modules for the wingtips. One regular and the other with weapons. Removable for transport (or cease fire in school zones).
Wires should be a simple plug in. Tips should have two bolts into blind nuts
Bottom rocket launcher should be even easier to bolt on.
