Just got back from the Birmingham contest. Finished 4th in FAI ------ behind the three members of the US World Team. The model flew very well, especially since I only had 12 flights on this head before the contest since it rained continuously here for the two weeks before I left.
The results were:
!st Wayne Mann Caliber 90, YS91, Futaba
2nd Len Sabato Vigor CS Ecclipse, YS 91, JR
3rd Dwight Shilling Caliber 90, YS 91, Futaba
4th Gordie Meade, Fury Extreme , YS 91, Futaba

The new Tempest rotor head is dramatically better in a hover than the current 848 head and is very clean in aerobatics. As I get some time on the model and can experiment I think it will get even better.

I was especially pleased to see how far Len Sabato had progressed in getting ready for the World Champs. I have high expectations for the US Team.

Nice one Gordie! That head must be something special to be that comfortable that fast. I imagine you haven't yet settled on mix ratios and blades yet?

Congratulations again

Settled

No, we are not firmed up yet but it's doing very well right now. I have a variety of blades, paddles, etc that I need to try. Gosh this is fun. I am gaining on it again.

Stuff

Currently I am running TG semisymmetricals, 700mm and 195 gr, SAB 40 gram paddles on the long MA flybar with no flybar weights, and SAB 106mm TR blades.
I'd like to try some High Products TZ91 blades as they are a little stiffer and fly beautifully but they are also more expensive so I'd probably really like them and then have to BUY 5 SETS so I may not .
