Mr MOTORCYCLE UK

My first hero and the man who started my life long love of motorcycle racing .Ther will be many tributes, but quite simply for us in the UK he was Mr Motorcycling he made motorcycling a house hold name. I'll never foget one of the many great scrapes with a certain Mr Roberts,
sreaming a the TV as they exchanged the lead and inspite of the intence battle and trying to control Hell with handle bars, Bazza slipped in front of Kenny and puts a hand behind his back (some sort of two finger saloot) to show his opponent what he thought (without malice) but i think that paticular day King Kenny had the last laugh.
" they dont make em like that anymore" RIP Bazza

I just new him as a commentator and in that he out-shined.
Somebody that brought personality to the sport and with that leaves a large hole that will be hard to fill.

My sentiments exactly 50 X, I was there and saw the gesture, (Brands Hatch, Trans Atlantic Trophy?)

I saw a recent interview with him when despite the serious nature of his illness he still made the trip back for a revival meeting. His attitude was incredibly brave and pragmatic, I get a lot of strength from people like him. I really hope he and his family know how much he was admired for the way he dealt with the good times and the tough times. What a great man.

Barry Sheene was my childhood motorcycle hero, and that of my friends. When we were 15 years old and riding Honda mopeds with 90cc barrels on them, we tried like hell to be just like him.

You did not have to be into motorbike racing to know who "Barry Sheene" was.

Need I say more, a true motorsport hero.

Barry was one of the legends, one of the real "hang it out" guys that
I always admired. God Speed.

Im at a loss for words, I had no idea his health had not been good. I just saw him battling with Kenny Roberts yesterday on legends of Motorsports, during the Daytona 200 rain delay. He will be sadly missed.

I was very sorry to hear this news

I knew Barry well, in fact he and my daughter had a thing going on at one time. She was only 10 at the time and deeply in love, but he was a gentleman and paid her just the right amount of attention. I can remember him taking her around the paddock at Brands Hatch on his mini motorcycle one race day, and she was in 7th heaven.

After he left Group A racing he went in to racing trucks and he insisted on taking me for a ride in his race truck one day. I cant remember how he managed to get my fat rear end up into that thing but there was a lot of grunting and groaning going on

Then he took me out for a run and that guys sense of balance was just amazing. He could make that truck corner on 2 wheels just like it was one of his motor cycles.

A sad day, his irreverent sense of humor and cheeky grin will be missed.
