don't worry the blackhawk will have the tail rotor tilted 15 degrees and the main mast will be tilted 3 degrees forward also

Last minute shopping pays off

While doing some last minute Christmas shopping for my Daughter I came across a toy Blackhawk which looked to be about just the right size and at $25 I figured it was worth at least trying to make it work It is a bit on the heavy side obviously but with the proper "diet" I think I can get down to a decent flying weight I'll have pics later once I'm done cutting it up

I started the chopping and initial fitting process. The tail is kinda short so I had to move the main mast forward an inch to make things work I guess it will be a fun scale now The cool thing is it does have working doors and rivits so it still looks decent for a toy conversion

I have a Kiowa plastic model that I have been wanting to convert for a couple of years but I need to find a 300/400 heli to drop in it...... It's going to need alot of power as the plastic models are very heavy....

Tom..... No "D" flying....

I got that covered I'm hoping the lack of a tail belt will also free up some much needed power. If nothing else this bird will have no choice but to fly scale because of the scale weight

Not yet I mounted the airframe and am pondering on how to make an access hatch while I'm waiting for the esc's and tail motor to arrive. Today was spent preparing my Cub for engine runs tomorrow

That looks like the perfect tail setup for any heli with an elevated tail.... I know Darthdrk has been doing this setup for years on his helis......

Hmmmmmmmmm

Well this tail might stop before it starts I tried a 2cell to keep the rpm's close to normal and it bogged bad with pitch added on bench tests With a 3cell the rpm's are insane and does still bog but the deflection needed should be minimal so I'm hoping that will do the trick.

JW, Are you running two separate batteries ? one for each motor or feeding both motors off one Battery ?

Are you concerned about the weight of two batteries ??? You could feed both ESC's off the one 1800 bat if you wanted too.

Actually I'm trying to make it a pig The idea is right now it's pod and boom for testing. My blackhawk fuse isn't light by any means so I'm going heavy for tests to see if it will fly with the same weight of that fuse on
