Here's my HBK2 with a few mods with more to come I've added an E-Flite 4200KV w/E-Flight25amp Esc,GY401,Trex tail blades,JR9303 radio and 649 receiver. I have a thunderpower 1320mah batt on the way and carbon blades and metal head/swash will be next. I got a chance to hover it around in the living room tonight and the power difference is huge and the tail holds solid! Thanks fenderstrat for the help the other day!

Oh yeah GY240, metal swash,HDX300 3800rpm,ELE30amp ESC, Futaba 6ex 2.4GHZ. Im not good enough for CF blades yet But I will be going the metal head route and CF soon. The swash gae me a little smoother control.

Tmaxx,

What pinion are you running on your 4200 Kv. I have a 10 tooth on my HBK2, just moved my E-Flite 370 4200Kv straight over from my CP Pro. Headspeed seems excessive. What is a good headspeed on the HBK2 for sport flying?

Im using 10t on the 3800 outrunner its just right for sportflying the HBK2 has an awesome headspeed no matter what. I started with 8t it would be a great trainer but to slow for me.

There is a headspeed calculator over at Readyheli.com, on the front page here on RunRyder, 2400 rpm is a good sport flying headspeed.....

I'm running a 10T. I haven't had the chance to check the headspeed yet because it's cold here with snow and ice. HS does sound a little high so for now I brought down the throttle curve to keep it together

Dont trust the calculator to far take that number and take about 75% of it. I did that on my 8T experience and was way wrong they dont take into account any loading on the heli due to weight or pitch.

heres mine on the calculator at this speed it would rip the woodies out of the grips.

Forget the formulas and calculators, you have to use a optical headspeed tach!

Ok smarty pants where do you get an optical headspeed tach. All my books have them for props and are good to 12" WTF. I dont really feel like getting 12 inches from the rotor. Although I have many times. I would like to get my headspeed from 10ft away during a hover. Is there such a thing?

OOps I guess I should of used the proper terminology being a council member, a C-Hair away from the rotor.

Looks good so far tmaxx At least you got to hover your bird, all I have so far is a gyro, batts, and a t-rex tail I'm waiting for the fat man in red to bring the rest of it. Good thing the wife is feeling the holiday cheer.

Council status denied for time being. Your gallery sports a nitro I believe a raptor? We in this council are ECO conservative we only emit lithium and Carbon fibers on the ground.
