I was hovering my Quick EP8V2EX Custom (Well over a 1.3 Grand invested total) today, when my 6 year old son threw a snowball at me... The snoball narrowly missed, but my heli did not miss the side of the house - TOTAL DESTRUCTION - 3000RPM on the head, swinging 425mm MAH carbons.... Damn, it was the best heli I ever flew, and I have pushed sticks on many...

Oh well, I only said the "F" word once, .5 of a sec after impact (and T Cut)...

Time to CRY.....

Cheers Lads, and remember, Misery loves Company.....

I will try and post some pics tommorow (monday) I started rippin her apart tonight, (some parts lost in snow) Anyhow, one good thing, the tail shaft is the same diamater as a trex450 main shaft, I am going to make many spares....(I bent my tail shaft in HALF !)

It normally wouldn't make me so upset, except that the Quick Heli was so NICE.... It had the best metal head and tail I have seen to date, exceptional bearing quality etc etc etc... I was so confident that a mechanical breakdown would never happen, and I suppose I was right...LOL

I suppose it is time for me to call 1-800-WAAAHHHHHHH

Cheers,

Rebuild under way. Good thing I am on holidays...I think I can have her together in a couple of days. Some post crash pics attached. Note my booken Trex600 skids.. They gave the QJ8 a wide stable stance.... Thanks for the support everyone.... I just discovered that HeliHob*y stocks parts, so I don't have to wait on a Hong Kong parts order....

Cheers,

If you need parts I know a good dealer in Japan.. He has a Japanese website but if you email him with what you need he will respond in English. I have ordered my Ep8 from him and many parts he is excellent to deal with. Plus parts are fairly cheap and he will ship via ems and will declare as gifts.

Ordered lots from him excelent guy.. I live in South Korea .

OK, It's back in the air today! - I had to fabricate a tail shaft - used a walkera 60 main shaft - they are the same diameter, and are highly polished. They are also Hollow, making them stronger, and 4.5grams LIGHTER...

Had some bent head parts too, managed to straighten everything out ok. One lumpy bearing in the tail as well - All in all, one TOUGH bird, considering that I crashed at full power into a wooden wall/fence.... I am thinking on ordering another kit for parts... I think it would be way cheaper, but not building the 2nd kit would be the Hard part.....

Cheers,

Woody67

way to go Jimbo, a fully functional heli is way beter than spares. If you crash one, you have another. If you part it out, you still have all that down time rebuilding.
