Got my E325 together and setup today and have hovered it a few times. It's a hard to get used to coming from two 50 Nitro birds, but I am managing. I put align 325 carbon blades and got them tracking good.

The heli seems pretty stable and responsive, but I have been having trouble getting the tail to hold very well and I think it has something to do with the throttle and ESC setup. I can hear the RPM changing in flight. I am running stock motor and ESC. The gyro is a logictech 2100 with JR 3400G servo.

When hovering, I can hear the RPM drop after about 10 seconds, and sometimes it will cut out completely. Sometimes it will start at a lower RPM and kick up when I am in the air, making the tail jerk as well. I have a 20C and a 25C battery, and the 25C seems to be affected less, so is it a power problem, or did I set something up wrong. The ThunderPower 25C 2070mAh should have plenty of juice, and I am experiencing this off a fresh charge on both batteries.

What should my throttle curve look like for normal and idle up? What is the correct beep code to set the ESC in governor mode? The manual has a typo in the beep code settings table. How do I adjust the governed headspeed, if I can?

Also, what range should I be looking at for gain on the gyro/servo combo?

I've got the same set up on my MT and the tail holds perfectly. It shoulds like you have the ESC set on gov mode. I messed around with the gov mode for a couple of flights with similar results as you described.

Three beeps is non gov mode.

it sounds exactly like you are in gov...there was a misprint in the ESC instructions do a search it will show which one is the proper setting...if not I can find it somewhere if you need....I'm running a 2100T on mine and the tail is solid as can be

I had the same problem. Turn the gov off. It's not needed. Also in idle up modes just run a flat line throttle curve. I use 0-80 in normal, 80% flat in idle #1 for the basics and 100% flat in Idle #2 for getting my freak on! LOL. This is with the JGF500th and 14t pinion.

flying mode: Helicopter, gov off

Thanks for the input. I had the model setting on the ESC to the second option, 5-2 beeps, which must be heli w/ gov. I changed it to 5-3 beeps, which I'm guessing is heli w/o gov? Had to recharge both batteries and my TX is running low as well, so I will have to wait to try out the new settings.

What are the best ESC settings for discharge protection, throttle response, and the others? Right now I have it set as follows:

1-1 Light discharge protection (Will this puff my LiPo's?)
2-3 Standard timing (would auto mode be better?)
3-1 No brake (What is this?)
4-2 Standard throttle response (Would this help the gyro?)
5-3 Heli w/o gov (I think...)

For throttle curves, is it better to have a flat setting or an actual curve? This is my first electric, so I'm not very familiar with the power settings.

I am running the stock 13t pinion. I would like to run a decent headspeed for mild 3D, while still maintaining a bit of stability, cooler motor, and longer flight times. I have a 600N to thrash, and this one is for learning & practice. Maybe 2500-2700? Should I look into the 12t or 11t pinions?

for me the discharge protection really doesn't matter as I time flights so there is 0 chance of over discharge.mine is the factory setting
standard timing is a good balance between power/flight time

NEVER use brake on a heli...thats for planes...it stops the motor when the throttle is cut...we dont want that..

I have standard throttle response...only because its factory and everything is running awesome so I felt no need to change yet..if it aint broke....

heli governor on/off...personal choice....some guys love the gov function others dont...try it and see

I'm still learning so I use curves...I dont need all out response YET so I prefer longer flight time(than running a flat 100%)....but some of the more advanced guys could comment on this...hope this helps

your setup should work fine. Put the discharge protection on the Nimh setting and just time your flights. The discharge protection will kick in at the worst time. Set your TX timer for 5min to start and if your voltage is still *WELL* above 11.1 when you land add another minute or so. Mine is usualy between 11.1 and 11.4 when i land. Just don't let the pack get below 11.1 . The electric guys on here could tell you better ways but this is how i did it. I,m not an expert with electrics as i am mostly a nitro guy.
The flat maxed throttle curve is to bring the head speed up to the max your combo will allow . You might notice that compaired to a larger heli a mini doesn't seem to have much collective pop. The higher head speed helps fix this along with better response and stability.

My setup for almost a year with no problems.
1-4 +5V cutoff for ni-mh/Ni-cd (TX timer set at 5min)
2-3 standard timing
3-1 no brake
4-2 standard throttle response
5-3 heli mode gov off.
Pitch
-5 to +10 normal
-11 to +10 idle up
Throttle
0 to 80 normal
80% flat Idle up #1
100% flat idle up #2
