Hi Guys,

TRex 450 driver here (own 2 of em). The gas powered heli has got a voodoo on me that won't go away untill I own one. Would like to stay in the .30 size range. Recomendations wanted, and don't spare the why's and why not's! Thanks.

Dave

Get a 50. Same size as 30 with more power.....
TREX 600N. You will love it.
I started with a 450. Got a Raptor 50 and now a TREX 600N.

Skip the 30, and go for the 50. You might as well stick with brand you know and go for the 600N. A lot of what you have learned on the 450 will translate to the 600N other than the nitro side. Just my opinion after going from the blade CP to the 450 to the 600E and working on a few friends' nitros.

If you already own a couple of 450's, then that is all the more reason to get the 600 Nitro. Mechanical setup will be familliar.

You won't be happy with a .30 size machine. They are good beginner birds. But, it sounds like you already know how to fly....

Hell... I can fix that.
Uh oh..
Nope.

Go for a .50 sized and forget the .30 sized, as everyone above has mentioned.

Knight 50, TREX 600, Raptor 50 (and there are many more).

Good luck to you whatever you decide!

The E and the N are both great machines....I would definetly get one of each
Seriosly, you can't go wrong with either one, or a 30 for that matter.

ditto all the above, 50 crashs same cost as a 30 and the power to weight will make you much happier. 600N is a damn good bird.

I agree. If you have the cash for a 50 go yto a 50.

Some even are more like smaller 90's then bigger 30's (like my Century Raven 50). And it is even costs less then most 30's.

A 30 gets better gas mileage but you'll out grow it in a hury and be kicking yourself that you didn't get a 50 in the first place. The 600n are a sweet machine but the Raptor are good too. And they can take a little more of a beating since the frame are still plastic

I once choked a smurf to see what color it would trun

With time you will get over the fear of the larger heli. You'll also grow to appreciate the natural stability of a larger heli, and have the opportunity to learn more efficiently because of it's inherent stability. The first thing out of my mouth was "WOW" when I first lifted off my Trex600n off the ground. It virtually felt like it flew itself compared to the 450. Good times. Growing pains... it's OK.

In addition, at 1700RPM you can do casual hovering for 12 minutes on a 50 size nitro heli!

Separate Forum????

Isn't there a separate forum for the 600N????????

Just messing with you, but the Captain is right... if he doesn't go with a 50 sized he will be banished for life!!!!!!

These guys are not yanking your chain.... if your two "rex's" are set up with decent equipment, and you are used to flying with some additional power to spare, then the 50 is the right way to go...and most all machines can be tamed for the initial flights, but as you "grow into it" you can dial them in to do just about anything that a 90 will do....
So, my vote would go to the 50 in this case too!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck and have fun....Stan

A 30 will feel underpowered compared to your 450's. Yep, I'm gonna say it too----Get the 50 if you can afford it. If you must get a 30, the Raptors are easily upgradable to a 50.

if you have got comfortable on the 450, you obviosly have masterd basic flying..

That being so,if you get a 30 you will quickly outgrow it, as everyone else here as said, go for a 50 there is little between them on parts and prices, you will never outgrow the power ouput of a 50 unless you really can stick bash..
