That was the next thing I was going to try is load it VM in spaces.

Problem then is that it will be more taxing on the system as opposed to running it on it's on partition/bootcamp.

Whatever anyone says that mac->bootcamp->xp/vista sucks is full of it.

I'm now on the 3rd straight day of torture testing it via 64bitVista and it's flawless.

If you are having issues with XP/Vista via bootcamp, then you either skipped something, doing something wrong or using pirated versions of the OS.

Out of 3 of us (co-workers) who have the same setup, we started the torture tests/benchmarks at the same time and 4 different imac's running x64 Vista are all doing the same thing.

Running flawlessly.

I am using Leopard OS for photo/video editing and it's great. I switch over to Vista for gaming and PC testing.

I'll never give up my servers and PC system's at home, nor at work. This isn't an end-all-PC computer.

It's just convenient and works in a good package for home user's.

I'm also running Oblivion/COD4 almost maxed out in native 1680x1050 and it's beautiful on the apple screen.

OSX detects the vid as an ati pro while xp detects it as an XT.

I couldn't care less what any non-mac user is saying.

I do network security for a living and have been a hands-on hardware PC guy using winOS/linux/redhat since I could type.

Apple got this right and it works.

Simple as that.

If you can afford it, more power to yah!

What do you mean 'you people' ?

I bought it because I was given about 3k worth of photo/video editing programs for the mac and the fact that I can use one computer to do all the editing, then in a few seconds switch to Vista and use it for PC testing and gaming was the deal sealer.

When it came down to it, it was all the legit software I was given for the mac that prompted me to look into it.

Once I did, the decision was easy.

It's really just a mid-level PC/Mac that can alternate between both OS's quickly with the touch of a button.

I couldn't justify buying it, had it not been for all the free editing software.

I'm just messing with you guys. I'd have a mac too if I could afford one. I just think its funny that all these Mac guys come in here talking about their new greatest dual core Mac, then in the next sentence the first thing they do is install windows. I too do web, graphic, and video design. I looked around and thought about buying a mac cause adobes software is cheaper then PC, but not that much cheaper. And I'm too hard on my hardware and need to replace parts ASAP for failures. And before any idiot says if I had a mac that wouldn't happen. Thats BS, I'm sure the guy above me will testify that Video Editing kills computers.

You wouldn't believe the number of people that actually think Apple manufactures all the parts in their computers. A guy at work told me he was going to buy a Mac because the quality of the components was so much better than PC stuff. He actually thought it was an Apple video card/etc in there

QK, KnifeEdge is real friendly about such issues. If you ask via telephone, they'd no doubt be willing to send you any latest updates on a disc, I'd bet.

I've been doing video editing on my G5 for years and haven't had to replace anything other than hard drives.

As to why mac users are putting windowz on, its simple, now they can use the Mac OS for most of their tasks and switch over to windowz when they need to use an app that isn't available on Mac, all without buying a PC just for that app, also they now get to play all those games
once again without buying a second machine.

I really don't like intel processors, but it is very convenient to be able to buy one machine and run the OS of my choice and still run the apps that I need to.

With OS X being UNIX based there is no need to run linux as most if not all those great unix tools are a simple compile away.

Its good to have choices

Theres video editing and then theres VIDEO EDITING. Making a DVD of Grandma's christmas is a little different the mastering a TV show for air, or a DVD for a 500,000 unit replication. Our processors usually run at 90% for 15 hours a day.

who mentioned grandmas x-mas?

I've been editing standard and Hi-def promo videos

I've also been doing 3d animation on the same Mac,

and when I'm not working my processors are at 100% doing SETI.

electronics don't "wear out" they can be damaged by overheating however.

if your PC's are overheating from running "90%" for 15 hours a day you might want to invest in a higher quality case i.e. one with better cooling.

Nah temps are fine. Hardrives go first, shortly after you will burn out a stick of ddr, then mother board fails. I just don't believe a mac under the same conditions wouldn't fail. Actually I remember killing a coworkers Mac Laptop last year just trying to dump some video. Killed the memory on it. Required us to send it to Apple and wait 8 weeks for it to be fixed. It reminds me of a famous movie line. Apple Parts! PC Parts, All made in taiwan. The point is apples buying their components from the same place as Dell, Acer, and HP. They only difference is you can't buy them unless Apple bought them first and supports said hardware. You guys should be catching on since all the New Macs say "Intel Inside" And are having no problems running vista. That makes alot of us computer geeks say hmmmmmmm.

Bye Bye PC! Just got an Imac! I was a Mac guy years ago, but had all the same issues as most about available software, but now Mac's rock! I am running OS X & and also running VM Wares Fusion with XP PRO for all my PC software I still have. the ease of use and everything running with no blue screen of death! I also like the IChat with built in camera, I just spent the last hour talking to my friend in Calif. & my Daughter that lives 1hr away at the same time, no glitchs just a clear video & sound of both, at the same time I was playing with XP & downloading files!

What do you do with an obsolete Mac?
Whatever you do, don't pick it up off the store shelf and buy it!

What's the difference between a MAC and a bucket of cowsh!t?
Three pounds and a Gameboy screen

Why did the retarded guy buy a Mac?
What do you mean? They're all retarded!

Seriously, why do these people buy Macs?
The boxes PCs come in are too hard for them to open.

What's the difference between a turd and a Mac?
Most turds aren't gray.

How do you make your Mac go faster?
Drop it from a higher window.

Why aren't more Mac owners computer literate?
They would be, if they had a computer.

How do you make a Mac run faster?
Smoke some marijuana just before using it, to alter your perception of time. There will be a noticeable speed increase, not only of the Mac but any clocks in the room as well. Now that's performance!

How do you make a Mac disk drive access faster?
Wind it up again

All posted from my apple ipod using saffari :P Yes they got me.....
Your turn....
