Is this a hint that CYE will be coming up with their own line of engines soon?
No, to design New Helis you first need the engines Drawings...

Wow That will be NICE!!!!!

MP2 pipe

Hey Buzzin Brian,

Since you work for CYE and you want a solidworks model of engines.
Do you have a solid model of the MP2 pipe for the O.S. 37 SZ-H?

I have a MP2 pipe on my Hawk and was thinking about modeling it too, but if you have a solid model already do you think you could send it to me?

I might be able to. Let me look and see what I have. If I do it will be 100% solid all the way through, as the design is trade secret. So those drawings can not be sent out. But a solid is likely doable.

As for the engines, nice specualtion but no. This is all me and me alone. I want the files to play with for many reasons. To play with designing a bracket for our ATG and the 600N for instance, and just to have a cool archive of engine files. Otherwise I would not need 2 90 size engines. But the techniques used to draw the parts are facinating to me from one person to the next. I am actually learning a lot from this stuff! It is just more for me to learn from and play with. No conspiracy, but we ARE always working on new stuff! The more tools you have at your disposal the better. So rather than try to aquire them with out rewarding the hard work that goes into the drawings on this level I decided to offer blades as a reward. Curtis was ok with me doing this, so here we are.

Thats an idea!!!

There are also others like say the YS 50? Plenty more to go around, just get a little creative!

So far Furious Predator is doing the OS 50 Hyper (delivery date 1-1-2008) and Fishbat is doing the OS 37 (delivery date 12-21-07). Anyone else want blades?

Actually I was wanting the one with the Pump system. I already have the C-Spec, which is basicly the same as the non pumped SZ, so your off the hook.

It's a cheap reward compared to the time and effort required to model all of the parts accurately and them mate them together accurately.

Just curious, how are you checking the accuracy of the models?

i suppose...i put in approximatly 60 hours of work into the YS91. im about to start on the Hyper, but i dont expect it to take near as much time. a lot of parts from the YS can be used for the OS...i just need to adjust the sizes. the piston, crank, wrist pin, wrist pin retainers, connecting rod, and bearings, are virtually identicle parts.

but..im in college, so money is short, i enjoy modeling and supporting my hobby in what ever way i can.

so by spending some of my spair time inside while the weather is crap outside is a nice little way to accomplish something.

as for the accuracy...i had actually requested permission to use the CMM at the college for getting better measurments, but i never got a reply. the tools i used were just a Micrometer and Caliper...you can actually accomplish a LOT with those tools.

i wouldn't use my measurments to actually make a motor (simply cant measure fine enough), but for the intended purposes, i think its fine.

Shawn hit it nailed on the head. I do not intend to make engines, but I do want them right. Otherwise it is a waiste of time to have them drawn. And as for the work being done, it is great practice for someone that knows how to use SolidWorks, and I am offering something for the effort. If the compensation seems inadequate to some people I am sorry. I am simply offering something for something else. Anyone that doesn't want to take the offer is more than free to not!

I am not trying to say that this is a waste of time, I'm just trying to articulate that it's gonna be tough to get people to do it. People who are in Seans position are perfect as they'd work for peanuts to get parts I guess.

I'd love to do that for ya too but I just don't have the time. I actually use SW on a daily basis too so this would easily be right up my alley.

Good luck.
