Pinion size for Neu 1107/1.5 and 2.0 motors.

Currently I'm using an 11 tooth pinion and the headspeed is alright with the TP 2100 extreme batteries nothing to brag about. Would a 13 tooth pinion be too hard on either of these motors and batteries? I want to get the 12 tooth pinion but these are hard to find in the local hobbly stores.

Having my heli: Cool, Having a working heli: Awesome, Having a day to fly: PRICELESS!

Hey! Watcha puttin em on? I'd go for a 12t on the 1.5Y if your esc is good for the amp bursts or 11t for avg flying,3s only. On the 2y I've been running a 10t on 4s with great if not excellent performance. Also the 2y may need a 13t or 14t on 3s, depending on flying style and how tight your esc is. I tried mine with a 12t/3s and went back to 10t/4s. All on a Jazz esc.

Phil,

Ill call you tomorrow to see if we have the 12T pinions at the shop, I think we do.

Id pick up a 14t, and a15t for the 2y. I was taching a customers heli last weekend, and in governor mode, 85% we were only getting 3000rpm, on 14T with a castle esc, governor set to high, version 1.55.

Boy 4s with a 13 or 14 tooth pinion on the 2Y would be way too high. I'm running an 11T with a throttle curve of 65-60-65 and getting about 3400 head speed. (Yeah, i'm gonna go down in pinion size to get a throttle curve near 100% but if it ain't broke don't fix it...It's been flying so well and comes down really cool).

Anyway, you can use a larger pinion on 3S but I'd watch it with 4S. Just my thoughts.

Interesting the variation in everyone's throttle settings and head speeds. I have a 13T pinion on my 1107/2Y (4S) and have been flying at 2900 RPM with no ill effects--coolest motor I've ever used, and batteries are only snuggly warm. I don't push the RPM higher because my skill level doesn't require it (yet) so I get a little more flying time.

With an Align 35 esc I am averaging between 115 to 125 degrees farenheit and the battery at about 98 degrees usually depending on the weather. With any change I make to get a higher headspeed I don't want to overheat the batteries as in the past this is what led to the short life of my previous batteries.

What I'm looking to acheive with the higher headspeed is like most a lot of pop on pitch pumps and an easier time on tic tocs. And, I like the farting sound the blades make like with torkboys heli.

Any idea what HS you ended up with on the 15T pinion and your flight time? Did it bog there or just power through it.

I just put on the 14T pinion and tached 3080 with 1400mah back in on 5 mins. I'm going to be putting on the 15t in another day or two as I'd like my HS to be around what I was getting with my XL.

Im running the 1107/2Y on 4S with 11T. Not sure of the headspeed but estimating 3200. Im getting 6 minutes of what 3D I can do and putting 1400 back into the KP 2200. Problem is I had to add 25 grams of weight right where the tail servo is mounted to get my balance correct due to the heavy KP pack.

Is anyone running the KP 2200 3S on this motor and what time and performance are you getting? I like that extra minute of flight and definitely the power but fairly certain I would be losing one or both dropping down to 3S.
