I am debating whether to get a TP1010C + 210 balancer or to wait for TP610C, which will be released very soon to use with 6S Trex 600E lipos. 610C can charge upto 6 cell lipos, has inbuilt balancer and its only $129.99. where as TP1010C + 210 balancer will cost around $250.

TP1010C is Capable of up to 10 amps (220 watts total) and TP610C is up to 10 amps (80 watts total).

what's the difference??
Since Watt = Voltage*Current
220 = 24V* Current
Current = 220/24= 9A (can charge 6S @ 9A max)

Using the same formula TP610C can charge 6S lipo @ 80/24 = 3.33 A max. Am i right??

Does 1010C charge nicd/nimh batteries also? with 610C you can charge nicd/nimh batteries.

What do you guys think? please advise.

Thanks

The math is close, reality is the 1010c will do 8.25 amps into a 6cell, so I'd bet the 610 will be limited to around 3 amps. To me that's a dealbreaker. You're going to have to wait 2 hours to charge a T-rex pack, as opposed to 35 minutes on the 1010c (that's the average I see charging at 8.25). It looks like the 610c is a great charger, just not for this application.

The 1010c will charge anything with the newest firmware, Lipo, LiIon, Lead Acid, Nicad, Nimh. I dunno if the ones currently shipping have the firmware already, but if not, it's downloadable from the TP web site and the cables are available for $30 or so at most stores to load it on. I have 2 cables, one is going on the classifieds here in the next day or so.

Charging 6s batteries for your Trex600 at a maximum of only 3.3 amps will almost certainly make you wish you went for the bigger charger.

At the field, I routinely charge at 8.25 amps. The last thing you want to be doing is waiting nearly 3 times as long to charge a battery and get into the air.

...1010/210 - no doubt about it for these big lipos.

The TP-1010C is a 220W charger and the TP-610C is an 80W charger. Thus, the former is almost three times more powerful than the latter. You need to determine if you need the extra power or not.

Yep with the update you can charge lipos, micd, nimh, pb, A123 and you can charge a 6S pack at 8.25A with the 1010 and 210 balancer
