rcsoar4fun rrKey Veteran Boise, Idaho  I know its wrong a=b=1 means A and B are 1 but; Final solution is A+B=A but that means B=0.I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

umm...thats not what i get...if you move everything over to one side, and make it = 0, you get this...b^2 + ab = 0

Texas1 rrNovice Tyler, Texas  the problem is your dividing by zero. If a=b then ab=0. You cannot divide a real number by zero.

Rob_T rrElite Veteran ..  This is a classic! The trick is that dividing by zero is not mathematically defined. So, as we know a=b the second line states undefined = undefined. Everything else is just a distraction.

EvoFlight50 rrApprentice Southbury, CT  The problem with his equation is as Texas said. You can't have 0/0. At the first step he set the domain of a and b to 1. If this formula he set up were true for any number other than 1 than his algebra would have been correct. His second step is invalid with a and b having a domain of 1.You'd have 0/0=0/0. Put 0/0 into a calculator and you get an error, it's undefined.
