Is it just me or don't you hate it when people post for sale in the classified but they put a f#cking link to Ebay for the item on sale instead of listing the full item(s) and selling it directly to RR members?

I don't even bother looking at the item. That's my choice I guess.

Yep, if for no other reason than they are dip****s for paying the seller fees for no reason. Post it here and sell it the same way you would on ebay. Must be trying to run up their seller rating..

What's the difference between boosting their seller rating on ebay and boosting their classified feedback here?

The owner has the right to sell it however they want.

Ever think that MAYBE they're not sure what to ask for it, so instead of putting it here, they put it on ebay with a link to the classifieds here, and they'll likely end up getting what it's worth?

I disagree…..

But could be one of those dip****s who pay for a service and/or convenience. On occasion I’ve also been known to use an ATM from a bank other then my own, having to pay a fee for a service. Might even donate again to the RR Club20 to help keep the UL gate open 24/7, it’s a service.

If I have something Heli related to sell, I start with a straight RR classified, but if I get no interest I’ll bump it a few times. Then if placed on Ebay I’ll edit my post with a link, pay a small listing fee for broader global coverage. At the time of this post, only 463 folks were online with RR………..

This hobby extends much further and is not all inclusive to RR. It's not for feedback..... No matter if I sell something on RR, Ebay or at a club field……. the intent is the same….. To pass something on to a fellow hobbyist and hopefully save them some money.

The kind of links I hate..... are dead ones.

Dakine, all the money and new toys you are constantly flaunting on these forums and you are looking at buying used stuff and bitching about it? Give me a break.

I bet the heli's sold on ebay sell for more money than they do on this site.

No I'm not mad. It's only a toy helicopter forum so I don't take it seriously.

It's only an observation to create a controversy .

I only buy used from my friends with mint stuff. I could careless about looking for something cheap. I like to get all my helis new. I've got a few builders to chose from. One of my top service providers is Modefo's helis. I buy everything new from him and he's got great service. I would turn around and sell my stuff to help another RR member at 50% off. So no, I'm not pissed .

Again, it was my opinion. It makes sense for some and won't for others. I show my new toys: My friends like to see what I'm always up to. I also ignore the jealous ones and like to piss them off. The reward is, I worked hard for it and play hard. Nothing was handed to me.

It's only a toy helicopter forum so I don't, and y'all shouldn't take it to heart .
Dakine, all the money and new toys you are constantly flaunting on these forums and you are looking at buying used stuff and bitching about it?
Dude, you are so far from the truth. But, you too have got a right for your opinion with me . Don't get jealous, get even . Work hard, and play hard. There's gonna be people who want to see my stuff, and there's gonna people who hate my a$$. I love both sides .

I look at the classifieds to see what the hell is out there. I was hoping they'd give members here a shot first as opposed to going straight to pay pal. That's they choice and they've got a right. Again, just an opinion with the interest of other buyers here.

Hotshabit,

You've got something to sell cheap cheap?

It's all good, they are just toys .

The way I see it is if you used this forum to learn, then go sell it on e bay that sucks. IMHO you should give those who helped you a shot at a good deal. I despise people who are willing to make a buck any way they can. I love giving stuff away to people who show interest, But I guess thats my choice, just like selling a beat heli for a profit to someone who will never get it to fly.

I would rather give it away.

If you sell something you will never get what it's worth to you IMHO, BUT if you give it away you will feel great, and not feel like you got took or riped off!

And no I dont have any helis to give away

My feeling is if you want to sell a heli to a fellow heli flyer, post it here with an honest price. If you want to throw it to the unwashed masses and try to get max dollar for a heli with "only 2 gallons" then go to ebay.
I won't even consider looking at RR ad pointing me to eBay, as that means the seller is not looking to sell stuff for an honest price.

Even though I have never posted a link to an ebay ad. Sometimes I do not want to deal with the PM's from members who are trying get something for next to nothing. I swear, If you list a RTF NIB dream machine for a buck, you are going to have to deal with a bunch of PM's from folks offering fifty cents if you will ship for free. Thats just trying to take advantage of someone. I will look and see what something is selling for her on RR, and offer it for a more than fair price. If there is no interest, off it goes to ebay.

Funny, I actually have a heli for sale on ebay. I just sold a bunch of RR, but chose to sell the heli (a nice blinged raptor) on ebay. My reasoning was very simple, I will get a higher price there than I would here. Its not a scam, its not dishonest, its common sense.

I give up on Loctite, nothing lasts long enough to vibrate loose anymore.

Some people are willing to take a bigger loss than others. I see no harm in wanting to get the most for your stuff, especially if money is tight (this hobby is great for that). The comment about not knowing how to price stuff is also valid. If someone is looking to buy, why does it matter where he buys it from? I would rather know it's a forum member selling the item on ebay than someone else personally.

I agree..... and it can work both ways..... "if" I'm looking for something to buy and it's in the RR classified, but linked to Ebay..... I'll check it out. If it's a fair price, seller feedback is good, might actually buy! Seller happens to be a RR member, all the better! We all like to save, but I don't expect anything for free, won't sell crap and hopefully don't receive any junk..... That said; If I were in this hobby to make money, I'd have advertisering banners for you to click.

I should clarify: I see no problem putting stuff for sale on Ebay once you feel you are getting low ball offers here, then, put it on Ebay. It's a prudent thing to do. What I was referring to was, there are some guys (a lot of newbies) put the stuff on Ebay first, then, make a post here with a simple link to the Ebay bidding without a price.

RR is a community. Ebay ain't. That's my point. And if you don't care about a 'community', then you might be one of the cheap ba$tards who want stuff cheap rather than 'value'. Then, Ebay is you answer and no problem. Again, my point is to retain the value of a 'Community', RunRyder.

Happy Bidding!

Now, anyone got some cheap $hit to sell me?

Tony, I agree wholeheartedly. If it's for sale, then it belongs in the classifieds section. If it's for auction, it belongs at ebay, and the classifieds section should not serve as the springboard to bounce me to ebay. If I want something from ebay, I know how to search there. No need to tell me here.

I have a large amount of distrust for ebay transactions anymore due to fraud. I also distrust buying r/c heli related items off ebay because it's easier to hide behind the ebay curtain when pushing junk off on someone else. At least here, there's more accountability, and if nothing else, we can send the RR mafia after perpetrators of deals-gone-bad.

And what's worse, the item could be coming from the seller who posted the following (and who could forget this one!):

Here is my reason for posting the link to ebay when I sell stuff.

1. It is extra advertising for me.
2. It is a way to control buyers and get a set time frame for the sale.
3. I am getting tired of people sending me BS ticked of PM's because they feel slighted because they posted to the thread or via PM first.

Let's be honest. There have been more scams here lately and the beotch and moan factor has risen from past levels.

I respect the people that don't like my tactics, but paying ebay's fees is better than the 20% commission that the LHS's around here charge. That and not dealing with low ball offers makes me do what I think is best for me.

Got to run......got to list some stuff on ebay

It was an issue previously until MR decided it was ok and he thus put the flag there to warn viewers they were stepping into an ebay link.

Personally, I used to sell everything here, and previously on RCO. But the bottom line, for the bottom line, is that you will get more exposure and usually more money on ebay. Sometimes some bonehead bids it up to retail price. It does help your seller's ratings too.

I still sell a lot of items here, but when I am selling stuff for other people, I feel that I should try to get more than 20 cents on the dollar for good stuff.

A lot of people biatch when they get lowballed on their sales here. We know the real value of used stuff (as a wholesale value). And for us to buy it, the deal has to be compelling (like Dakine's stuff always is). So I ask the whiners why take offense if someone is giving you an offer at all, when no other offers come in?

As an example, I sold a Maxi Joker 1 here. I got about $1100 for it. Another is on ebay right now, very similar, and bids are up to $1800 currently. I stopped bidding at $500 (lowballer). They were enough different that the value is not the same between them, but the point remains valid.

For the most part, no matter what you are selling and how good it is, if your price is over $700, nobody will buy it, regardless if it is $2500 retail and it is all as new. On ebay, you can get more money.

I always link here to let folks know my stuff is on ebay. Sometimes it goes cheap. A lot of times it has been RR members who have bought it.

my rule of thumb is to post it here on rr first and see what happens.

I prefer just to sell it here instead of ebay, however If I see no p.m.'s after a few days that usually means that nobody is interested.

usually you can tell the really great deals are gone after just a few hours or sometimes even minutes!!

I was afaid of trying to sell here. I've heard alot of rip off stories. I've got my Trex 450SE with radio, gyro, charger and 2 lipos and spares for sale at the LHS but this is such a repressed area all I get is low ballers, some of whom are really aggressive. One Guy calls everyday and says he won't give up until I sell on his terms. Almost makes me want to arm myself.
