I have a knight 50 sport with 3 futaba 9252s an a ds821, futaba 401 w/ 9254. No governor (yet). I want to run a nimh battery. The question I have is should I order 2 2000ma batt or order 1 3600 ma. I would rather have just one battery if you all don't think the weight would be to much. I was looking at getting the battery off of here http://www.hangtimes.com/giantrxpacks.html I have heard good things about them. Also I somebody could give me an estimate on how many flights to expect.

Thanks

Hi Alf the batteries on your site don't look too convencing to me I would recomend something like this http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=158305 I think you could easely get 5 tanks of ez flying with it just to stay on a safe side,it all depends on your flying style somebody correct me if I'm wrong

I would suggest going with a low impedence 'A' size pack for a 50. I used to run a sub-C pack but the weight is a bit much.

what ever pack you run be sure to get a battery tester that can put a 1A load and check it before every flight. I stop flying at 4.8V at a 1A load for 4-5 seconds. Horizon sells a few type, Futaba has the BR-2000, I use one like this - Duralite sells the same thing:

Might also want to chuck that 821, they arent rated for use in a 50, I'm sure you plan on it for the throttle but its susceptable to vibration issues.

Sanyo HR-4/5FAUP 1950 NiMH

Available from you initial link. At 5 mOhms impedence, it should do just fine. I have been using RC 2400 NiCD cells but they are heavy.

One good Nimh 2700mah would be about perfect. JR has a good one. Better yet would be a li-ion 5800 or 2600 and an Arizona reg. Also FP 3000mah (reg required)lipos work well too.... Lots of choices out there...
