I tried to mount the 401 gyro under the mainshaft, or just in front of it, and the ESC under the motor, but got alot of tail hunting. It seems that the ESC is giving alot of disturbance for the gyro placed that way. How have you solved it?

Using a DX7 and AR6100 RX.

Anyone?

Anyhow, I went back to the NT400 gyro, and its ok for basic flying, but not for 3D. So I must use a better gyro. This little heli flies amazingly well to be such a small one! It feels so quick, yet stable when you want it to.

Hi,

I mounted the GY401 under and somewhat in front of main shaft. You should not place your ESC under or next to the GY401. I mounted it on the right outside next to the motor. Now I don't have interfearance, wich I had before when my ESC was almost next to the GY401. My tail (GY401 + S3154) holds well, but I have another problem with the heli itself. But that is another story.

Hi, yes, I have now mounted it like this, also with the S3154 servo. The tail holds well now, but I still have some fine tuning left before it´s perfect. I like this heli alot, it sure flies well, and its very responsive and fun to play with inside. I´m after 3D performance, since I mostly fly this way.

Hi tom the way we mounted the esc was on the side of the frame and the 401 was a perfect fit in the back of the battery tray. Good luck, Jimmi

I put another aluminum frame tube cross member just in front of the existing aluminum frame tube. I then zip tied a cf platform to both of these tubes. I moved the 401 from in front of the motor to this platform. Now there is room for a Hyperion 1200(30.5mm wide) on the platform in front of the motor. CG is good with this configuration.

As I was looking a mine, I was wondering why they didn't put a gyro platform there.

Nice job.

Here is my setup... (don't mind the wire mess, have to do that yet)

I made a little plate on the front for my receiver. I can turn this plate to the top for maintenance. My GY401 is next to the battery. My ESC is on the back on the right, next to the motor.

Do you get any interference from having the GY401 so close to the motor? I am debating whter or not I should put the GY401 at the very front end of the battery tray to get is as far from the motor (and ESC, which is at the back on the right) as possible. Or, is it not really an issue to have the gyro so close to the motor?

Hi,

No I don't have interferance problems. When you look at Kyle Stacy his movie, he flies 3D and he has his GY401 at the same spot.
