Right now the T-REX500 is the machine to wait for !
I was thinking about the trex500 but I fond out that it’s not really a 500 at all?

It’s just the same old 450 (425mm max blade size and 3s LiPo) with a new name. I was expecting something with 500-550mm blades and 4s to 6s LiPo. The trex500 is actually smaller than the Swift 16?

You really have to be on the lookout for deceptive advertising like that.

BTS,

You must understand Willie - If it is from Align or Mikado - it is always "the one to wait for"...no matter what it really is.

Yes Willie, I hear ya. Of course the statement at the start of this thread, "...get your order in and the machine in your hands before the dealers get the Kits." did disturb me....very much so. In fact, I thought it was a marketing gaff extraordinaire. As you said, it is a slight to the Century dealer network....and that is something that I have taken up with them.

But really, it seems this thread is about what the Swift 620E has to offer as a heli, and not Century's marketing strategy.

Century could also pay the costs of having a herd of Hot Sticks pimping their stuff. This would definitely get them more of a halo and would allow them to charge a lot more for their kits (as they would have to, just to pay the costs of these Hot Sticks). Just NOTE the difference in price between the new Raven and the Trex600NPRO. If one purchased the T600NPro along with a set of the blades that come with the Raven 50, its' price would be about $650...the Raven is less then half of that...$300.00.

Some are willing to pay the extra to feel like they are "hangin' with the Hot Sticks"....others would rather not spend money for that feature....specially when one figures how much that feature really costs.

There is no doubt that the T600NPro is a very worthy 50, but so are many others that cost a lot less. I agree that the others will not be as publicly popular, but IMHO, that has a lot more to do with the pimping by the Hot Sticks, then the real merit of the heli itself.

I have been flying these things since 1985, and have seen a lot of different helis evolve and always analysed the helis on the merits of their flight systems and design....not by who was flying them.

I have also, in that time, seen a lot of market developments evolve that I didn't even think would do what they have done (e.g. the extra money/margins a manufacturer could make from using hot sticks to create a "bullish" demand - I thought that was only possible in the penny stock market ).

I guess I didn't think so many people spent their hard earned cash "buying into something" rather then "buying something". But there is no doubt about it, Align and some others are proving there are more of the former then the latter.

So maybe Century should try to go somewhere in between

Phil I agree to an extent but......

Was Adam Turner not a hot stick? Did sales go up then when he was a Century stick or what sticks are we rubbing and talking about here?

Heck you Century peeps just need to give one to Ol' Finless Bob, if he does a video for you I am sure at least a thousand of his followers will buy one cause they like Bob.

Phil bring one of these 620s to the SHAG event so we can check one out please, thanks.

Interested in seeing what has changed close up. I am always intersted in seeing helis of any brand close up and inspect their flight abilities in person.

Same as Shawn. I'll look at any new heli and if it looks good and spares are readily available, I'm very interested. I recently sold my 5s Swift 16 (with a little bling). I really enjoyed this little heli for over 18 months. Parts were cheap and easy to get (mainly got them from tower).

Cheers,
Tom C

Hey Tom,

I wouldn't have thought you were a Swift guy because of the large electrics that you have.

I've also enjoyed my Swift 16. I had 380 flights on it last year and I'm hoping for another 200 next year. The little heli just won't wear out. The head on my Swift is still tighter than my 600Ns even though my 600N only has 120 flights. Go figure.

As much as I love my Swift, I'm not planning on getting the 620e. The TRex 600s fly so honestly. They do what I tell them -- nothing more, nothing less. That's where I want to spend my money.

Maybe my tune will change if I crash and need another smaller heli...

Keep 'em flying.

LJS,

Ya, I really like my 10s Trex600 a lot too! But, never say never, if the Cty 620 works out really good I might have to give it a go.

Picked up another little 5s hack recently (a second hand Logo 10 carbon 3D). Runs a little bit smoother than my old Swift 16 but I do not look forward to it's crash costs!

Cheers,
Tom C

I have been waiting a long time. been having fun with the Swift 16 but have been holding out for the 620 because years ago they said it would have a full metal head, more than the Carbon 550. I have been more recently flying t-rexes cause of the power to weight ratio. I wanna higher head speed for my Swift! I might try a high rpm Swift 16 setup with 515-550 blades. 2500?

You better get a CNC headblock, grips, and put thrust bearings on the tail.

Hi Pete,

Hey, if you’re interested in gassers, RC Heli Magazine just did a review on the Century Predator gasser in the last issue. Looked like a pretty neat machine. And they had a tricked out canopy on it. Sweet…

Keep ‘em flying.

The cnc headblock and blade grips are all stock on the 620 according to Century. I wonder if I can use the shorter tail boom from my swift 16 until I save up for a larger motor to swing 600 blades. I am excited about the 620 and I don't mind waiting another 5 months like I am sure I will. If I did not waist my time waiting on this particular heli, I probably would have bought two different helicopters by now.

Heck, you do not have to go to a shorter tail boom if you want to swing shorter blades.
