Axe CP

The more I fly and the better I get the more I realize that I really don't see myself doing any type of 3d flying down the road. I guess I just dont have an interest in doing stunts like that. I see myself getting into scale models and enjoying more of a precision type flying(yes, im the kind of guy who would buy an oldschool muscle car and just go for cruises and never take it down the 1/4 mile, lol).

Anywho, the question I had was is there an inexpensive gas heli that would suite my purpose?

a pantera is a great inexpensive 50 size heli... it has alot of options on it for putting a scale body but you can change it up to do 3d also(which is what i use it for)... you can put a 46engine and be gas economical or soon you can put a 91... either way its a great heli... never had any problems

/\ you wanna laugh, I was looking at that same exact one earlier today! http://www.genesishobby.com/Product...ctCode=AUD22601

It isn't very clear what else I would need...a remote/engine? ...other stuff to get me up and flying.

just like any 50 size glow heli you get you will need... engine, muffler, 5xservos, gyro, radio/reciever. battery. starting stuff: starter, hex extension, glow heater,fuel.... the pantera does come with woodie blades which would be fine for just flyin around but i wouldn't use them for 3d

Not a quality one. You can get combo setups from various stores, but there are no large, high quality RTF heli setups out there. Your best bet would be to make a package deal with your LHS or an online store; most stores will cut the price when you buy the heli, engine, muffler, blades, servos, radio, etc all in one shot.

If I remember right heliproz sells some combos that come with almost everything (probably still have to build it). They carry the raptor and sceadu evo in combos that include just about everything except maybe the starting equipment.

You are talking about a whole lot more dough than the 260 or so for the pantera kit. You might have a look at the century birds, hirobo, or even TT. All of those manufacturers are offering scale kits to fit their mechanics as far as I know.

Keep in mind a gasser.
No messy cleanup / wipe down after flights.
No starter (pull start)
No glow lighter.
BUT, Large/heavy and expensive initial cost.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

A gasser uses a type of weedeater engine. Burns regular gas with 2 cycle oil mixed in. ($4.00/Gal verses nitro at approx $25/Gal). Very little smoke and no oily residue after flight. Same as a gas weed eater or gas blower.

Gassers tend to be much larger and heavy, 90 size class. Mine has a 23cc engine, same as 140 nitro ( 1.4 cu inch). I think they will make great scale, but you will need a lot of room to fly. My rotor dia is 64 inches When you crash, it can be very expensive.

and gassers use a pull start just like a lawn mower... but yes very expensive... the reason a pantera is good is because its cheap... good quality, been flying one for 7 months no problems and no slop... you can get scale body for it or fly 3d... if you buy a gasser and want to 3d then your out of luck... yes people have done 3d with gassers but its going to involve alot of wrecking and hard work.

""Is there a model that comes with everything I would need?""

yes. Century sells scale kits with mechanics

http://www.centuryheli.com/products...l?currentid=168

or, for $200 the Hawk Pro is a bolt-in fit for any of the newer Funkey 30 size fuses, and the for only $300 the Raven is a bolt-in fit for the Funkey 50 size fuselages (but in some fuselages you may need to swap the Raven's eCCPM control system to the Hawk's mCCPM, a pretty inexpensive swap),, the Raven 50 would be my pick not only for it's larger size but cause with all it's upgrades and nice carbon blades it's a vary nice flying setup (with ether eCCPM or mCCPM), for $300 the Raven comes with some $250 in upgrades..
