Going to be traveling on down to Dallas for 12 days of training and looking for good places to eat. I make it a point every time I travel for work to treat myself to an excellent steak. What places can I look at down there? I also love itallian food so I like to hit one of those places too.

In the little town N of Ft. Worth (Ponder) there is the Ranchmans Cafe. AKA Ponder Steakhouse. You have to call ahead if you want a baked potato.

Cattleman's in Ft. Worth in the Stockyards

All good. I prefer my GF's steaks to them all actually.

The Best to Me

The best to me is Ruth's Chris steak house. You can find them across parts of the country but they are real, real good. One in Dallas and I believe the one in downtown Ft. Worth is open by now.

Del Frisco's in downtown Ft. Worth is very good as well.

Bob's steak and chop house gets good reviews.

Three Forks in Dallas gets a lot of positive reviews as well but I did not care for it when I was there.

+1 for Ruth's Chris. Wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary there (Dallas location, not Ft. Worth), and it was the best steak I have ever had bar none. It's not cheap, but it's not terrible either. I had the filet (1" thick and so tender you could cut it with a fork), and it was $34.95. Sides are $7.95 but are enough for two. I recommend either the sweet potato casserole, or the shoestring potatoes. We didn't get salads, but did get some sort of desert that was fresh berries in a white cream (get your head out of the gutter). Total with tax and tip for the two of us, came to $106. My wife and I were so impressed, we are already planning to go back each anniversary.

I've heard a lot of good things about Ruth's Chris. I'll have to check it out. Looks like I'm staying in Plano.

If you want something a bit different, try Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in Addison, it is awesome.

Ruth's Chris is great.

But they are all over, I thought you wanted something you can only get in this area....But, you will be around for a few weeks, try a few and let us know.

If you have nothing to do on Sat morning Grapevine has heli only time on Sat mornings...Then we all go to lunch. I will not be there this Sat since I will be in Colorado.

Yup, I want to try a few different spots. I've never seen a Ruth's Chris up here in the northwest though.

Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse sounds really interesting. I'll have to try it too.

Ranchmans Cafe sounds great too. I plum forgot I was heading to the bar b que capital of the world! This should be a great time. Only down side is the training I'm going to is going to be intense with little time to screw around.

Del Frisco's in Ft. Worth is excellent.

Bob's Steak and Chop house is also a very fine steakhouse.

Chris

I would choose Del Frisco's.

Texas de Brazil is like Fogo but not as much of a chain so they try harder IMHO.

Benihana is pretty good. I get the Rocky's choice and sub chateau for the steak. Good stuff.

Well, first steakhouse I've gone to is Ruth's Chris just near Plano. About a 5 mile or so drive from my hotel.

Had the fillet and it was great! Pefectly cooked and tender. Now this place knows how to dish up food! The plate was probably 500 freakin degrees! Had butter all over it and kept the steak nice and warm. Had the mashed taters and they were ok. Fresh bread was nice.

Was able to drink the water at this place since it was either filtered or bottled, but also ordered a coke. (BTW, this area's water sux!!! It's terrible tasting I can barely brush my teeth with it.)

Total bill will tip was $56 for just me. Hope to try the Brazilian place and a couple others over the next few days.

If you think the water tastes bad now. Wait until summer when the lakes turn over.

Yuck!

Are you going to Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao?

Went to Fogo de Chao. Oh my LORD!!!! It was the best place I've been to in a while. The food was amazing and the service was unbelievable! You never waited for anything, other than your favorite cut of meat to show up. As soon as you turn over your coaster, there was meat everywhere! The rib eye was the best cut from what I had that evening. The filet that I had was overdone.

A little spendy at $76 with food, drink ( $2.56 for a 10 oz. bottle of Sprite!!! ) dessert, and tip. I'd go back in a heartbeat though!

Oh... and I also when to Bone Daddy's. One word... WOW.
