Hello all,

My question is this, I want to buy a pipe for my raptor 50/os 50hyper and cant seem to choose. Currently i have the muffler that came with the kit, it seems to run well but its small and untuned. I would like to know if the align pipe makes that much more power than the MP5 I like the way the mp5 looks and there is one at a local hobby store that i could go pick up now but, would i regret not buying the align insted. I mean can you notice a difference between the two really.. or is it just mostly in you head that the align "seems" better. and finally will a quality tuned muffler make a noticeable difference in flight, will the climbout on one be much quicker then the stock muffler i have now. I understand the science of them and how they work etc but does it really make much difference in power on motors we use in helis. Inform me.

Didnt notice much difference inflight in terms of power, but noticed that it was easier to tune the motor with the Align.

You wont go wrong with either one.

I've had the MP2 (never tried a 5), Hatori SB50 and the Mavrikk high volume muffler, and the Align. All of them were ok but I stuck with the align for the combo of price and power. The Hatori has the same power, is quieter but costs alot more and needs some tinkering to mount.

I'll say - 2 hours of cussing, twisting, take it apart, put it back together, those O-rings would slip out and pinch every dang time! and the bracket was a pain also.

finally got a bit nasty with it (resorted to vasoline and some spit) and it slipped in place

sure sounds nice, but for the money the MPII was a lot easier. If I were to buy a new 50 pipe right now it'd be either the MP5 or the Align. The Hatori 1-peice may be a lot better for mounting but you still have the bracket.

Well, Thankyou all for the input. I purchaced the MP5 today and it runs great, It is a definate smoker though. I have leaned it as far as i could with out it getting to hot or "Missing" and by that i mean the sound doesnt osilate up and down, and the tail doesnt kick but it still runs smokey rich. Is this normal?

I like the Align pipe. Plenty of power.

Lol, it's all about name dropping the who's who in the heli world to try and sell stuff nowadays isn't it. Great for all the fun fly groupies! Wonder when the pros are gonna come out with their own clothing lines so we can get some signature Bobby Watts underwear and some JK high tops and throw in a Justin Chi shades to top the look, sweeettt!! lmao

Now that funny......and true!

I am quite certain that the reason the Align pipe is working so well, is probably because they copied the internal baffling from the Hitori and redesigned the out side to not need the support. I do know this, it is thin(dings easy) and is loud. I would go with the Hitori.

The Bobby Watts hatori doesn't use a bracket, and no "o"rings to deal with. Great Muffler. I'm pretty happy with mine.
