How do you guys set the failsafe on Futabas Fasst system? The instructions tell you to put the reciever(9C)in PPM mode then set the fail safe. Problem is that you do not have a failsafe option i PPM mode.

On the back of the 7 channel module there is a fail safe/range test button. With the module plugged into the Tx and in PPM mode the fail safe is indicated by the flashing green LED on the module. To set this it is very simple, with the Tx power off keep the fail safe button pressed and power up the Tx - it should change to the fail safe output.
F/S is on channel 3 (throttle), keep the stick to the desired F/S position then bind the Rx.

Keep in mind, for the add on modules the host transmitter must be run in PPM mode.

Only in the case of the modules for the 12FG / 12Z /14Mz, will you be able to set full failsafe for all channels.
All of the other FASST systems only allow you to set a failsafe for the throttle channel.

9Z FASST/Failsafe

I set the throttle failsafe on the 9Z to idle and when I power off the TX, it goes to throttle cut instead. Any ideas?

No.... 12/14 only using FASST Multi mode has full failsafe for all channels. If it's in FASST 7Channel, only throttle has failsafe !
