Is Robert in a Tibetan monastery or stuck in a Bolivian prison for stealing a goat? What gives? Robert was a pivotal person in this hobby for many years and inspired countless people by his flying, myself included. Like me I am sure there are hordes of people who would be very interested to hear what he is up to or what he thinks about the current state of helis. Even if he thinks all this stuff is for kids and we are a bunch of wankers. At least you would understand why the disappearing act. Last I heard he was involved with jet skis and didn't want anything to do with models. That was probably 15yrs ago though. I also remember several people saying that he was an arrogant A..hole, only met him once he seemed decent enough. He may have had an ego but he was the man back in that day. I bet he could even make a few bucks from a mag interview. I would pay to read that.

Googled the name, came up close to the top of the list. Odd mystery that he doesn't want to be 'tracked down' or contacted according to his father. Search the name here on RR as well and you'll find plenty of posts.

Yeah, I remember seeing a picture of Robert performing a "in flight" needle adjustment with the model flying just above his head!

And no it wasn't a photo chop pic.

Top pilots for that time I remember were Robert Gorahm, Mike Mas, Curtis Youngblood. I'm sure there were others, those are the ones I remember.

Well done Gimbal !

I just betcha - that was done with eithier NO gyro or a electrified spinning rock , maybe some mechanical "tiller arm style" or maybe even Y -harnesses for mixing. Imagine a basic 4 ch radio and no curves to diddle with and definitley no specialized motors!

It's a shame if it's true Robert doesn't want to be bothered because I believe theirs a lot of who would like to say thanx!

One of the hardest laughs I ever had in my life was when my OS-FSR .25 powered GP> Cricket had a lean run on COX super fuel - got two telephone poles high and sized up hard. It just gently floated down and so--- smooth / ley impackted the asphalt in the church parking lot.

If anyone see's him with dark glasses and a big floppy hat I betcha if they can rub a little Raptor or Trex on him - the Genie just may come out of the bottle !

Thanks Bob ! For what you started for me over 30 year's ago !

He's got to be in his 60's or 70's by now, wonder how much skill a person loses over time? Getting old sux!

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Some of yawl might be getting father and son mixed up.
Father - John
Son - Robert

Robert prob in late fortys.

John and Robert were nice enough people, always ready to answer questions and give hands on help.

JMO - I think that Robert was tired of fooling with choppers after the years of being main factory demo/test pilot and working at factory.
When business went under, he prob happy to move to other interests.
Yep, he used to walk up under his hovering Jet Ranger and kiss it on the nose. The chances one takes in their wild youth.

<add>
After GMP company closed up, Robert worked at promotion of TSK choppers for a while, best I remember.

That vid reminds me of the movie Lords of Dogtown. At the end of the movie was all the orig clips of Peralta and the others skating in the empty pools. Its cool to be able to go back and see how things use to be, thats for sure.

Duhhh, you are so right. Sometimes I get names confused. Getting old is hell. Gotta get it straight, lets see... Robert, John, Manny, Alan, OK I got it!

Bitmap is going to edit his posts and get the names right!
