big block

I met someone in Mulberry that said he bought the kit from Audacity for $130.00. He was using it for a scale project.

There's more to this story than meets the eye. This was a very special circumstance of me and a friend engaging in an experiment. The BBC kit is "not" ready. Prices have certainly not been established yet. However, we "are" now, i.e. right now, making the bits and pieces for the BBC kit. Once that's done and we've packaged them and written instructions, we hope to offer it by Christmas, or soon thereafter. Hang in there please, it's almost ready!

Nope, it's a physically larger engine. In fact, 61/70/80/91 are all the same size externally. What happens is the gear ratio needs to change for the 91. Seems simple to figure out, but it's not so easy. These htings take time. Plus I assure you, if you knoew the crap I catch just by offering a good Christmas special you can probbaly figure out why I don't want to rush this and have folks complaining about it!

So John, I assume there will be two versions then? One for .90 size and one for other sizes down to .60? If that's the case will there be a simultaneous release or will the smaller engine size setup be available sooner? Will there be a pre-order opportunity?

Thanks, Shayne

the pantera is built like a 90 with bigger clutch and bigger bearings all the way through, this is why all the other kits out there don't realy compare John only has to stock one clutch for all he has to offer from the tiger 50 right up to the 90 way to go JB

A positive outlook is all that is required

Tentative plan:

Stage 1 - engine mount and clutch hub (for 5/16 and 8mm crankshafts)
Stage 2 - gear ratio change (91 only)
Stage 3 - long/boom for special apps, i.e scale (up to 71cm blades)

Pricing? Undetermined as of yet.

I need to fix that but I've been working on a new website and the old one is getting short shrift . . . unless folks would rather me spend time on the website, i.e. neglect the BBC, Wildcat, etc. I seek a balance, but the lion's share of my time is going to products. Some day, when I'm rich and famous and have folks to help me do more of these things, we'll get more things done more quickly (gotta love that sentence). No time soon though - heavy sigh.

If you are in a hurry, just make a mount for the 61 that is what I did. I will get a better one when it is avail. or if you could use a mount from another hele. then just drill and tap a few holes.

Accepts 50SX Hyper or 61SX WC
I agree. The ad clearly misleads one to believe everything needed to install a 61 is in the box.

Wait a minute here! Getting to the Pantera by clicking on the pretty picture on the home page means reading the text that says, "Available 61 conversion", which isn't as available as I'd hoped when I made the graphic, but that's life. Go beyond that, i.e. click on the grpahic, and I agree I need to edit the "Description" but anybody considering the Pantera will read the "Extended Description", which clearly says this:

" . . . the Pantera 50 accepts the OS 61SX WC even though it's primarily designed for the OS 50SX Hyper (or even the super economical OS 46FX-H with an optional clutch hub). All it takes to install is the addition of an accessory engine mount plus the simple expedient of drilling out the clutch hub from 1/4" to 5/16" (the WC has a 5/16" shaft instead of the 1/4" as used in the OS 50SX - and they both use the same size brass collet for aligning the clutch hub). Add to this the Pantera 50 clutch is 1.4% bigger than a Raptor 90 clutch which means it can absorb . . ."

What's more, any mention in the magazine reviews says it's an opiton, and everyone on RR knows it's upcoming, so don't be saying I've set out to mislead anybody because of a finger slip on the briefest possible product description of the Pantera on my website because it "will" accept the 61. Granted, you need an accessory, which I make quite clear in the extended description. Consequently, I feel your assesment is a bit harsh!

Here is a simple pic. of my mount I made. I think it was 5/16" stock. If you do something like this move the lower mount hole up about 1/4" it is all the way at the bottom of the mount holes in the frame where I have it.

Also, I forgot that I had to turn down a nut to get the top cone on the for for the clutch.

Again nothing fancy and simple to make. I will get a good mount when John is done with them, but it will work until then.

i still don't understand why yall are so upset... his website says accepts a 61... which the pantera does... it does not say includes the conversion kit to put it a 61... simply says accepts it... which is truthful... just buy a pantera for the sale price and wait a month or 2 and get a conversion kit, or just do it yourself... but the pantera can do very good 3d with the hyper if you are a good pilot and have collective management
