I have about 1 and half gallons of fuel through my TRex600 Pro. When I first start it up and let it ideal on a flat surface, it vibrates on top of that surface like the old vibrating football game.

One I take it up and put it into a hover, the support brackets for the torque tube tail are vibrating so much that you can almost see
through them.

Thanks
Joe

First I would try leaning out and see what that does. If your needle is still at one and a half its too rich. Find the sweet spot.

since the only thing rotating at start up is the clutch, I would assume that it maybe 2 things. 1 need to dial indicate the clutch assembly. 2nd thing if you put to thick of a liner in the bell and its grabbing abd idle.

The liner is the original liner. How do you go about balancing the fan and hub assemble, and how do you dial indicate the clucth assembly?

It's a good idea to check runout. Also if you put a governor magnet on you should counter balance it.

I have a hard time believing that a metal magnet in a metal fan would cause enough out of balance to shake a 7lb heli during idle. The weight of the magnet should be close to the weight of the metal removed for placement.

Something else must be the issue. I would drop the motor and make sure your bearings are ok. Then, check to see if the clutch is ok.

just a thought

Joe,
I am assuming you have not but since you did not mention it. Have you laid it over? Are the blades still tracking? Can you spin the start shaft freely? Just a few things to look at.

If you don't find it we will be at the field this weekend. Bring it out and we can take a look.

fwiw..

Don't overlook the fit of the mainshaft in the main bearing blocks...If the shaft won't fall into place of it's own weight, the bearings and frame are misaligned...The 600 is VERY sensitive to this regarding vibration...

The blades are still tracking very well, and I can spin the start shaft freely, and the main shaft does fall freely through the baring blocks. The top baring does seem to have some play because I can move the main shaft around a couple of hairs.

I may drop the motor and put the hub and fan on a balancer just to see how off it is if any.

I also heard that running it rich could cause this. I do know that I am still running the motor pretty rich, because after I fly the motor is still cool to the touch on the bottom.

Thanks
Joe

600N kits are kind of miss & hit.
i have an "miss" also and by the number of posts of people reporting same problem...align should be concerned about product they are delivering.

i suggest you buy a metal bearing block & replace the 2 upper blocks.
yeap, some kits would not fly out the box without $$$updates.

I would consider adding a second magnet up side down in the oposing hole to balance it out. but with the hub it did work well 1 way and not the other. 1 direction it show ed .004" the other way was right on. I always dial the hub in. and yes 1 magnet at 2500 rpm at idle will cause the heli to shake, just like a 1/10 gr will cause mains to shake.

.002 runout on the fan/clutch assy is about max...I try to get to .001 or better if possible...Both fan/clutch assys. I've done required minimal fiddling, but both were out better than .004 just slapping them together...

Its possible, I've seen it. Its not about the fan itself, its the entire assembly (fan + clutch + hub)

It's a pretty common problem, and tracking it down requires patience.

A couple of threads with many suggestions:

I know when I had a bad vibration on my heli it was do to it being too rich. I wanted to know where my needle was at so I closed it and went out one and a half on the needle and then I turned it a couple clicks in and then hovered it. The canopy was vibrating and the tail fin was vibrating to where I could see it moving back and forth. The tail would not stay locked also. So I closed the needle again and turned it out to one and a quarter out and three clicks out from there and ta da, that was it. No more vibrations and the tail stay locked.

Update

I found out that my head speed was insanely too high. When I fly in normal mode the governor is turned off, and I had a linear curve. Now I set my curve more exponential, and set the max point to be 95%.

I did balance my fan because it was way off, but not sure if that helped on vibration or not.

The only fear I have now is that I broke my motor in using the high RPMs, so I hope I did not shorten its life, The Piston is still smooth as new, and the rings are a grey looking color.

Thanks
Joe
