I'm getting the Pheonix sim for a Christmas present and am wondering - do you need to switch the transmitter on to use it and if you do, do you need to remove the module? I'll be using the Futaba FF9.

Using a 9CAP and pull the synthesizer module to avoid "any" unnecessary overheating and the possibly of effecting any calibration from using it with the antenna down. You do not have to turn it on however; the rx battery needs to be installed.

The Phoenix lead has two pins bridged which turn the TX on for you as soon as you plug the lead in.

This will run your TX battery flat if you do not unplug it when you are finished.. I cut the connection between the two pins and now turn the TX on/off normally even when the lead is connected.

I cannot remember which pins it is but it's obvious when you unclip the cover on the plug that fits into the TX.
