These main bearings on the block from Align don't last for nottin. I just replaced a set 20 flights ago and now I have to replace them again.

They are very gritty and have a notichy feeling to them. No crashes before hand. Would you go to the trust bearings upgrade?

2nd, the one-way on my new heli is already out. I haven't even taken flight and on spool up the main gear spins freely and RPM's rev out of control. After a moment the gear will catch and the blades will spin again. But what's the deal? Right out of the box the one-way is already bad!

Helimagic25 ,

Volumes has been written about problems with the sprague clutches (AKA: one way bearing ). I have not heard about problems with the main mast bearings but maybe I missed it ??

Explanation: Perhaps you got a kit that was put together on a Friday.....

I have heard a lot on the one-ways too, but out of the box is the nail biter!

The main shaft bearings, I would suspect the quality in the bearings are not to high from Align.

That doesnt sound like a one way problem, or it could be slipping. But the common failure of a one way is total lock up. If I were you I would check the clutch shoe clearence and put in a raptor 90 clutch liner.

main bearing

The factory main bearing that come with the Align kit are pure junk, I have 40 flights on my 600N and have replaced the main bearings 3 times, they will and have become gritty and notchy with no crash after only 1 gallon of fuel...I am looking for an alternative bearing without changing the factory Align ABS bearing blocks...

I'm sure that you can easily find replacement bearings that are higher quality.... they are "standard" metric bearings, nothing special, I'm sure....

Just pop one out and either take the bearing to your favorite bearing distributor or I'm sure the measurements will do just as well.....

Lots of "on line" places to buy too....

133 flights and nearly 20 hours of actual flight time and my main bearings are as smooth as smooth can be. I did use "the greaser" before I assembled the heli. Original oneway is still working flawlessly also after many hundreds of autos.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Have the 90 clutch liner it there. Its got to be either the one-way in either the main gear of clutch.

Bearings

If your bearings are holding up well as you claim you are one of only a few not having bearing issues. My bad bearings will be resolved however not by using Align supplied bearings...

As well as I claim? Do you think I'm lying? I just find most problems seem amplified to a great extent when reading threads. Hearing about one failure can seem like a product wide problem when you see it in print on a forum. I take all threads with a grain of salt so to speak. For some reason I just don't have any of the problems you read about around here. My one way has never been a problem, bearing, TT, gears, swash, you name it and it's all been working fine. Although very subjective I think I fly the thing fairly hard and still after nearly 20 hours it all stills feels brand new. The one thing I did change right off the bat was the clutch liner. Other than that any changes I've made have only been for the sake of tinkering. The only other experience I have with another 600 is a friend of mine who bought his shortly after I bought mine. We fly together every week and other than a oneway problem in the beginning his has been fine also.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

When you say the one way is locked, do both gears turn freely of each other?? I have also heard of them slipping on the shaft or in the gear itself.

I have well over 200 flights on mine and all the bearings including one way are the ones that came in my kit. 1 lock up with the one way and thats it. I too used the greaser when I built mine.

I haven't hand any problems with my first heli till about 120 flights. So I will not be one of those that will keep complaining about bad bearings.

However the one-way main gear will spin freely when idling then catch and the blades will then continue to spin. Seems as though the gear spins the opposite way then catches I believe this is causing my issues with the bearing being bad. On load, the one-way does not have the issue, only when spooling up or idiling!

The reason I initially posted this is because of my 2nd heli I just built. Not even one flight and I have the same problem which I believe the bearings are bad.

The main bearing blocks in the N600 wear out pretty quick. Even upon one crash that my buddy had, the bearings in the block went bad.

I just wanted to post my issues since I haven't come across this one before as the gear spins freely on idle and spool up.

I have not had any issues with the one-way locking up as many have posted. Till now, my heli was rock solid

Helimagic, I've seen first hand how you build those heli's and I'm surprised it even took off!

HAHA, actually I wish you built my heli's cause I'm sure they would fly better! It really seems with the bearings either you have no problems at all or they just don't work. I wonder what the % is, my two 600N's have been great so far, maybe a couple hundred flights between the two.

Do the new Align Bearing Blocks have thrust bearings or are they radial?

its THRUST bearings and they are not needed. just buy yourself a good set of bearings. goto rc-bearings .com and get yourself some good bearings to put in it. My main shaft bearings are stock and still fine with over 100 flights, i just check them last weekend, but the Blade grip bearings (the one on the outside of the grip) went bad within 50 or so flights. And of course the one way locked but bought a new align bearing for that and its been fine ever since.

This company sells great bearings for a dollar or two each. I buy them and swear by them.
